The Petrov HS-100 is a tank used by the FND in Far Cry 6. Besides the main gun, it is armed with a coaxial machinegun, and a DShK Machine Gun. Since Yara is effectively stuck in time (due to difficulties importing anything into the country) the Yaran military have been forced to rely on obsolete tanks manufactured during the Cold War. Nontheless, despite their age, the tanks are a huge advantage for the Yaran military in the war against the Libertad revolutionaries.

Variants[]

  • 1944 Petrov HS-100 (Standard Army tank): Basic model with no additional armor, standard FND off-white paint.
  • 1944 Petrov HS-100B (Special Forces Tank): Black paint, otherwise identical to the basic version.
  • 1944 Petrov HS-100 ELITE (Special Forces Tank in Esperanza): Black paint with red accents on various parts, including the mud guards, driver's and commander's hatches and roadwheels. It is also equipped with ERA blocks on the upper glacis plate and upper parts of its turret, as well as composite armor packages on the turret cheeks.
  • 1944 Petrov HS-100 "Karlito" (Modified by the Legends of 67): Karlito has undergone heavy modifications while serving during the Revolution of 1967, which include the gun being replaced with a shorter, possibly higher caliber cannon, which would be more suited to anti-infantry combat, and the coaxial MG being replaced with a flamethrower. Other modifications include a modified paint job with an angry mouth on the upper glacis plate, and empty round casings used as applique armor, presumably intended to defend against shaped charges, common in infantry anti-tank weapons. If the kill marks on the sideskirts are to be believed, "Karlito" is responsible for destroying 7 FND tanks and shooting down 3 aircraft.
  • 1944 Petrov HS-100 “Señor Pinga” (Modified by Zenia Zayas): Señor Pinga is a standard HS-100, although it has been modified with a sound system on the outside, and has been given a paint job somewhat resembling a pig.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first usable tracked vehicle in the Far Cry series.
  • The Petrov HS-100 at first glance appears to be based on the T-54/55 tank, although upon closer inspection, the tank appears to be a mashup of Soviet designs from the 40s and 50s. Notable elements include the rounded, cast joint between the front plates, as on the T-34, and a board dedicated to blocking water from covering the driver's periscopes and hatches when fording rivers, often equipped on T-54/55 and T-62 tanks. The elite variant adds a composite armor package to the turret, similar to the one on the T-55AM/T-62M.
  • The Gameplay review trailer that took place 28th of May shows a clip where Dani Rojas was able to control the tank.
    • Similar to many other video games, the player controls the entire tank. In reality, a tank requires multiple crew members to operate, potentially including a Driver, Gunner, Loader, Radio Operator and Commander. In the T-55As, Radio Operators were absent, and Commanders were doing the radio communications as well as commanding the rest of the crew.
  • It's mentioned in game to be a model from 1944. The basis tank, T54/55 were built from 1947 to 1951.
    • The T-54/55 were a development from the T-44 tank, developed in 1944, yet never saw combat in World War II.
  • The tank is a good defense against helicopters and heavy soldiers but can be weakened by explosions and fire.
  • Based on the tank's name, it can be safely assumed it is/was at one point armed with a 100mm cannon. (see point below for more detail)
  • The main gun fitted on the Petrov HS-100 more closely resembles a NATO 105mm gun, specifically a shortened version of the French 105mm Modele F1, however it has some minor differences.
    • It is possible that the tanks were upgraded with NATO guns and equipment prior to Yara being sanctioned after the Revolution of 1967, as seen in the sights, which are marked in English, and not Russian/Spanish, as would be expected on a Soviet tank in a Spanish-speaking country. A similar thing was done with the Chinese Type 79 MBT, which is also an evolution of the T-54 tank upgraded with a NATO 105mm gun and fire control system[1].
  • In the special operation Los Tres Santos , when you get close to the Vehicle Demonstration area, you can hear an announcement from Colonel Simón Cavallo about one of the auction lots, where he announces that one of the lots is a "T-62 Tank", as well as the fact that it is armed with a "115mm cannon, a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, and a roof mounted 12.7mm heavy machine gun." This is all correct information regarding the T-62, however it is unknown whether he is referring to the Petrov HS-100 (one of which can be found at the vehicle demonstration area, and more closely resembles the T-54/55) or an actual T-62 not seen in game. This is possibly a developer oversight.
  • Interestingly, in the cinematic title screen, a Libertad guerilla fighter can be seen spray painting the word "LIBERTAD!" on the turret of a knocked out tank. However, when the camera zooms out the tank pictured more closely resembles a T-62, with its lower profile turret and longer main gun, in contrast to the tanks seen in game which, as previously stated, resemble the older T-54/55. This could mean the FND operates both T-54/55s and T-62s, but all T-62s were destroyed (which seems unlikely considering all rusted tank wrecks seen around Yara are T-54/55s, and one was apparently being auctioned off in Los Tres Santos), the T-62s were decommissioned and phased out of service (which would be odd, considering the fact that the T-62 is the successor to the T-54/55 and has thicker armor, a more powerful main gun, and a more advanced fire control system), or is simply another oversight by the developers.
