Admiral Aña Benítez is a major antagonist in Far Cry 6. She is the FND Naval Commander who rules Yara's waters with an iron grip, and the face of Castillo's regime in El Este. A pure product of propaganda, Admiral Benítez works closely with Sean McKay to secure the latter's interests in Yara.

Biography[]

Benítez was a quiet middle child of who was raised on her parents' yacht whose crew of rugged seafarers taught her everything she knew about the sea. She would develop an acute sense of judgement by noticing the wealthy Yarans desired to be Western while the poor remained Yaran. She cut ties with her family when she became a teenager and joined the navy. Benítez would be the youngest lieutenant in the navy and would meet her future husband, Leon, while stationed in Esperanza. He works in the Administration Office of the Navy.

In a note near Fort Fontana, Benítez said that back when she was a lieutenant, her parents served under the corrupt Espinosa government, that they were "loyalists who stole money from Yara." They asked her to help them flee to the US, but she arrested her parents and they faced a speedy trial for treason, which she oversaw their execution. Benítez said she did not weep for her parents.

She and her husband would have two daughters together, a nine year old named Aña "Gorda" Benítez II and a three year old named Aña "Lita" Benítez III. Benítez would be promoted to Minister of the Navy by Antón himself which would change her family. She would have her husband take care of their daughters in Esperanza due to travel demands. Her new role tasked her with protecting Yara's trade and shores as well as working with Sean McKay. Their relationship would be tense with feuds rising that Antón himself would have to solve. Sean McKay statement "Pets will eat your face to survive. So will your children." may have been because of what Benítez have done to her parents, which disgusted McKay.

El Presidente begins to be frustrated with Benítez's failure to stamp out La Moral's rebellion. Antón warned her that he promoted her to such high rank only because she is a woman in uniform, as there are more capable men in Yaran military. This is likely because Antón needs Benítez in high rank to inspire numerous women in Yaran military and increase their loyalty. She is shaken and orders a prisoner be increasingly tortured on display.

Dani Rojas, the Legends of 67, and La Moral attack her island. Benítez taunts Dani that she will ultimately succeed as they are doused with PG-240. Dani eventually reached the Admiral in her secure room and kills her. Benítez's body is hanged from a cannon in a public display of victory and humiliation.

If Dani takes the boat to leave Yara and live in the US, it's unknown what would happen to Benítez, although Dani certainly escaped her forces when traveling into international waters and therefore did not face her wrath.

Personality[]

Aña Benítez is an unquestionable True Yaran at heart and cannot stand a Fake Yaran or a poor one. Her loyalty to Antón survives in the face of El Presidente admitting that she was simply promoted to Minister of the Navy only because she is a woman in uniform and subsequently threatening to make her the highest ranking woman with her head on a pike. Benítez cannot stand failure or any undermining of her authority, especially from McKay. Anyone who fails or undermines her is executed and traitors are displayed on ropes hanging from cannons every single day. Despite her fanaticism, Benítez is a loving wife and mother who is reported to speak to her children over a dozen times in a span of a few days.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Antón, José and María, Benítez doesn't have any portraits of her, hanging in FND bases or Checkpoints.
  • Raúl Marín supposedly served under her since he was an elite navy commander.
  • You can kill Benitez before storming her final stronghold with the Triador + La Varita Combo. While she is taunting you Behind the Bulletproof glass, Activate Triador. Then with La Varita Shoot Her until she dies. This will cause a cutscene to abruptly occur.
