Air Raid is a Story mission in Far Cry 5.
Objectives[]
- DESTROY the cult fuel pump
- DESTROY the convoys
- DESTROY the helicopters
- DESTROY the Chosen airplane
Plot[]
Shortly after reclaiming the Rye family plane and defending their home, the Deputy returns to Rye & Sons Aviation to find that same plane sitting on the airstrip, waiting to be flown. They climb in and prepare to take off, as Kim calls in over the radio to explain the plan to hurt the cult: they've been seen driving gas tankers around the valley, grabbing any source of fuel possible, leading to speculation of an impending attack on the Resistance. She wants them to perform bomb runs on the Peggies' supplies to halt their advancement.
Once the Deputy is high in the sky and detonates the fuel sitting at the depot, Kim calls again informing them of recent radio chatter that suggests the cult is squirreling out with the gathered fuel, forcing the Deputy to intercept them on the road and bomb them out of existence.
However, Kim radios in with worse news: Eden's Gate has deployed a pair of helicopters performing reconnaissance on the Resistance's strongholds to prepare the attack. The Deputy intercepts the Peggie aircraft and guns them down to the ground. The triumph is short-lived as Kim warns them again that a Chosen-piloted aircraft has been sent to stop their interference. With good skills and an itchy trigger finger, the Deputy once more outwits the elite pilots, exciting Kim at their on-par abilities with her husband, though she'd never admit it to his face, probably.
Tips & Tricks[]
- It is advisable to complete this mission with a low RP meter, likely before Tier I, as, after reaching a certain level, it becomes possible that a second Chosen/Resistance-pilot aircraft may join the dogfight. This makes it difficult to impossible to finish the mission in the air, as the other plane(s) is likely to crash into and/or shoot the player down while they focus on the target.
- Realistically, any aircraft can be used for this mission, but the Rye family plane is both immediately available and the catalyst for starting the mission, thus it's more convenient than looking for a vehicle shop to get a different one.
- Destroying the convoys mean blowing up both the tanker and trucks, so it's likely that multiple bomb runs will have to happen.
- Should the player try to land their plane and do repairs with the Repair Torch, Kim will call over the radio and offer to lend them a new plane back at the hangar, though it's no issue if one has the Auto Repair perk.
