The Black Eagle is a bird found in Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry Primal. As its name implies, in all appearances so far the Black Eagle has been a black-feathered eagle. It's very aggressive and bombards people and prey in its vicinity.
Description[]
In Far Cry 3, the Black Eagle is very rare and is only seen on South Rook Island. It will advertise people of its presence by making a loud screeching sound and grabbing riders of hang gliders with its talons.[1] It cannot be killed under normal circumstances, but if a hang glider is veered and crashes into the Black Eagle it will die. In Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal, the Black Eagle functions very differently. It appears in the natural game world, roosting in the mountains of Kyrat and Oros, especially around Bell Towers in the former. Kyrati Black Eagles attack civilians, including Ajay Ghale, at random, being a subject of great concern for Golden Path rebels, who try to kill them at every opportunity.[2] They even interact with the environment, attempting to and sometimes succeeding at carrying off pigs or other prey. Notoriously, sometimes they will drop these animals onto unsuspecting humans.
On the contrary, in Oros they are much less common and aggressive, flying around the valley and stealing small animals such as goats and deer from larger predators. Most notably, there is a large flock of them at Eagle Cry Peak in Oros' northwest, where Takkar goes to find rare eagle feathers for Wogah the Crafter.[3] This mountain summit is one of the highest in Oros and is populated by over a dozen eagles warily watching their nests.
Trivia[]
- The only easy way to see Black Eagles in Far Cry 3 is by using the map editor. Them attacking people riding hang gliders may be seen as a reference to Assassin's Creed where eagles are used as signal devices to navigate assassins to viewpoints.
- Their feathers aren't required to craft anything in either Far Cry 3 or 4, making them one of the few animals that are not necessary to kill for anything.
- Far Cry Primal’s black eagles are often confused for North American bald eagles because of their similarities, specifically the white “bald” heads and brown feathers.
