John's Gate, formerly the Black Horse Peak Launch Complex MT-68 is a location in the Holland Valley region of Far Cry 5. It was purchased by John Seed to build his gate in the Cult's envisioned version of the Garden of Eden. Similarly to Faith's Gate, John's Gate is a decommissioned nuclear missile silo.

Trivia[]

  • From time to time, the US Government sells abandoned/unused missile silos to private buyers.[1] In 2000 a certain William Leonard Pickard was arrested for conspiracy to manufacture and distribute LSD. Pickard set up his laboratory in a decommissioned missile silo. Later he claimed that "Expanding consciousness was the goal -- something that would benefit society." The case might have served as an inspiration for the game's main story line[2]
  • In Far Cry New Dawn, the location has been renamed "The Inquisitor's Grave". Inquisitor was the first nickname given to John Seed by Ubisoft, before they changed it to "John the Baptist."
  • In Far Cry New Dawn it is the place where you find Selene, a young 'scientist' girl who is obsessed with 'self-medication' yet friendly and willing enough to help out at Prosperity. She gives you a mission to retrieve her bag of drugs and you need to return to the bunker to get it.
  • Even though the bunker blew up in Far Cry 5, in New Dawn it has no sign of destruction at all, and light is still on, even in the room where the mission "Confession" starts. The only real difference is that there's no other white crates or cult flags left, only wet heaps.
  • The name of John's Gate; Black Horse Peak, is a biblical reference to the black horse ridden by the Horseman Famine which John is meant to represent.
