« | OK, Jack. Listen up! There is a small camp close to your position. I know the commander there has some special night vision goggles you'll need in order to navigate through the regulator. | » |
The CryVision Goggles incorporate low-light imaging technology with thermal tracking able to create the perfect accessory for any player exploring dark areas in Far Cry.
Description[]
Much like night vision goggles found in other games, the CryVision Goggles work by sensing body heat of enemies and giving an accurate assessment on their movements and position. Additionally the player is able to see in dark environments due to the advanced low-light imaging technology incorporated into the goggles, allowing the player to navigate through caves, avoid obstructions and track enemies through the cover of darkness. The gadget is no less useful during the day or in bright areas as it highlights enemies with the thermal spectrum, which makes them easier to spot. This function is especially important when confronting Stealth Trigens who can blend with the background, thereby becoming practically invisible.
Unlike the Flashlight, the CryVision goggles have a short battery life, indicated by the bottom-left icon next to the compass. Turning the goggles off causes the battery to automatically start recharging. However, if the night vision is on while using the Binoculars, the battery life is not affected.[1]
Appearances[]
The goggles can be found on the floor in the control center in the level Treehouse, still attached to a helmet lying on a blood stain which suggests it must have been dropped by a mercenary who fell victim to a trigen. They cannot be picked up, however.
They can be acquired for the first time in the level Steam, as an optional objective, from a small room in a hut belonging to the camp's commander. Their location is marked on the compass. Later on in the game, they are worn by some Elite Mercenaries who drop them when they die. Picking them up can instantly recharge the battery to 100%.
