The Disciples or Cultists are a group of soldiers (led by a man who is known as Master Sandesh) that became a religious cult who worship Yalung. They came to the Valley of the Yetis in May of 2014 in order to seek something known as
"The Relic". Eventually, constant exposure to the Relic turned them all insane, and they began processing the products of the the Relic into something known as "The Elixir" which they force feed to people in their secret prisons in order to turn them into Yetis. They refer to the Yetis who also live in the valley as the "Awakened Ones" and revere them as they believe them blessed by Yalung. They appear as the main antagonists in DLC Valley of the Yetis.

Background[]
Previously, the Disciples were originally soldiers of Yuma Lau in the Royal Guard. Yuma sent Colonel Sandesh to lead a group of soldiers for an expedition in the Lost Valley to find a Relic that, according to the legend, can grant immortality. The expedition entered the Lost Valley in May of 2013 to look for "The Relic", and began scrounging the region for clues. Sandesh's expedition was made up of two teams: Sandesh came to the valley with Team One, following just after Team Two, led by Private Kamal, who were the first to arrive in the Valley. Sandesh ordered his soldiers to take over a Yak farmer's house and convert it into a Relay Station so they can report their progress. Colonel Sandesh also ordered his men to set up checkpoints, as well as jamming stations to isolate the valley, for he feared the CIA would be spying on their operations.
As the Expedition searched for the "Relic", set up their radio tower, and built their supply depots, their men began bathing in the hot springs of the Canyon of Awakening. Unbeknownst to them, the hot springs were contaminated by the Relic, and they soon began seeing visions and hearing things, and ultimately, turned some into Yetis. At night, the soldiers claimed they've begun to hear unfamiliar bestial roars. One of them described the noise to be a man crying but distorted. While the Expedition continued searching for the Relic, the Expedition claimed they began to see Yetis while showering in the Canyon of Awakening. Sandesh, after that day, disappeared for a while, Yuma presumed that Sandesh and his team found the Relic — which was a yellow glowing tree that emits a yellow gas & spores spread all over a cave found at the peak of a mountain called Hajura'Amako Hatama.

One of many Elixir distribution sites run by the Cult.
But when Sandesh returned in July 2013, he became obsessed with protecting the Relic and gave his men the order to store a concoction called "the Elixir" — a processed product of the Relic that turned into a consumable form of "Liquid hydrogen". After much research and testing they succeeded in producing the Elixir, and afterwards consumed much of it themselves. The Elixir made them hear voices and see maddening visions, thus turning them into crazy cultists. Master Sandesh himself became obsessed with Yalung, and saw the Elixir's transformation as blessings of Yalung. The Elixir began transforming his soldiers into The Awakened Ones, (i.e., Yetis) and Sandesh's men began kidnapping civilians and sacrificing them to the Yetis in order to gain Yalung's favor.

Enemy Types[]
The Disciples have similar equipment and training to the Royal Army. At a distance, or if unclear, they are hard to determine from Royal Army snow troopers, for they wear similar snow suits and fur-lined hoods. However, they are easily distinguishable by elixir scarring, skull headresses, and the yellow Disciples symbol on their coats.
- Assaulter
- Beheader
- Berserker
- Defender
- Heavy Gunner
- Hunter
- Molotov Thrower/Flame Seekers

Quick Review Table[]
« | I’d never thought I’d say this, but it’s better to fight lunatics with AKs rather than professional soldiers. My guess is that none of them knew how to clean their expensive guns, and the guns broke. Their loss. | » |

Assaulters are standard Disciple members. They are less mutated and more careful fighters. Many are found praying to Yalung or running Elixir distribution sites.
- Standard Disciple members who use assault rifles and pistols in combat.
- They use pistols while in vehicles.
- Common throughout the Valley.
- They are most often encountered on upgrade tasks, or night survival.
« | Imagine you found a man stupid enough to take a random elixir, then keep taking it despite the side effects of visions and uncontrollable aggression. Then imagine you found a lot of idiots like this. Sandesh has a knack for picking the most aggressive fighters anywhere, then turning it up to eleven. | » |

Beheaders are sadistic and unstable psychopaths that use knives and kukris in battle. Many are heavy elixir users and are fervent believers in Yalung. They are often found praying, or enforcing Sandesh’s will on unlucky civilians.
- Beheaders are rush troops that disregard using cover and any sort of armour in order for a clear attack to be made.
- Killed fairly easily, but can easily heavily wound or kill, especially if they catch the player off guard.
- Often found in large groups, combined with Hunters.
- Most common Disciple unit of all, and heavily featured throughout Valley of the Yetis.
« | I’m honestly surprised at how few Berserkers are present in the Valley - maybe they prefer melee combat. Honestly, that would fit their lunatic style. | » |
Unknown Player |
Beserkers are cautious fighters who have been promoted. Most are found delivering Disciple supply trucks, or cleaning their shotguns.
- Beserkers are short range units that attempt to chase Ajay down and do incredible damage at close range.
- Disciple Berserkers lack smoke grenades, but are not any less dangerous.
- If possible take them out from range as they are extremely fast and not to be underestimated.
« | I just wish they were all maniacs, instead of people on a mission. These pricks are the ones who rally them and provide orders. It is not fun being on the receiving end of these orders. | » |
Unknown Player |
Defenders are more seasoned troopers, promoted because of their age and experience. Many dislike taking elixir due to the compromising side effects, and are smarter fighters.
- Defenders are more efficient troopers, known for their efficiency in battle.
- They are better protected and can take more damage to the torso.
- Head is highly vulnerable (headshots recommended).
« | I once rolled up on 2 of these guys at a blockade with 2 vehicles set up - they were looking the other way, but still took ‘em out. I am not a fan of being nuked from someone you can’t even see coming. | » |
Unknown Player |
RPGs are reckless individuals who use RPGs in combat. Many dislike the assignment because the warheads sometimes explode without warning, and have to spend ages cleaning their RPGs because of freezing problems.
- RPGs are mid-range fighters that attempt to line up their RPG with players.
- They are devastating, but are slow to line up their shots.
- They can easily knock enemies off their feet, so make sure to take headshots, or simply sneak around them.
« | These guys are problematic for a number of reasons 1, they have so much armour, it’s like shooting a brick wall. 2, thankfully, there’s only a few of these guys around, and 3, taking these guys head on is like walking into lead rain. | » |

Gunners are the walking tanks of the Disciples. Many have previous firearms experience and are in charge of providing recruits with basic training. Many have extreme superiority complexes, causing risky decision making.
- Gunners are the walking tanks of the Disciples.
- Heavily armoured, they use constant gunfire to overwhelm opponents.
- Their helmets, when knocked off, allow for the instant kill.
- Their helmets are not full - easy headshot at the back.
- If heavy beatdown is unlocked, they can be taken down.
- They are extremely slow, so running away is not a bad idea if needed.
« | I was hoping these walking curses would NOT follow me to some isolated valley in the middle of nowhere, and here, they’re like freaking flies - infuriating, and everywhere. | » |
Unknown Player |
Hunters are nomadic units that are trained in wilderness fighting. They co-ordinate almost exclusively with other hunters, and shun civilisation in general.
- Disciple members trained in wilderness combat that are common in the wilderness of the Valley.
- They use bows and arrows/fire arrows, kukris at close range, and can charm predators into fighting for them.
- They can only be tagged for a short time using the camera (about 5 seconds).
- They use bird chirps to communicate, making it much harder to pin down their location.
- They CAN see you through foliage, so be careful.
- Extremely common - far more common than in Kyrat.
- Despite their abilities, they are glass cannons - very weak and wear little armour, allowing for quick kills if undetected.
« | I would’ve thought they would use something better considering these guys were ex-Royal Guards? But no - they’re still easily turned into human torches, but these guys move surprisingly fast. | » |
Unknown Playerl |
Throwers are erratic and unreliable fighters who use Molotovs in combat. Many are drug users or drunkards, and usually end up setting their allies on fire.
- Flame Seekers are throwers who use Molotovs to flush players out of cover.
- They may seem drunk, but are alert, so don’t be fooled.
- Shooting their Molotovs on their chest will cause them and the entire area around them to be set on fire, allowing for crowd control.
- They have pistols but almost never use them.
« | Infuriating, these guys. Take them out before they see you, or you’re screwed. But seeing them is a problem - they’re surprisingly good at camouflaging themselves. | » |
Unknown Player |

Trivia[]
- Despite the Disciples veneration of Yetis, they still actively try to kill Yetis just like any other predator they encounter in the wild instead of fleeing or hiding, likely because the Elixir made them aggressive and bloodthirsty to the point of not sparing those whom they venerate.
- If Ajay Ghale fights for the Golden Path, then the Disciples become severely weakened and their remnants wandering in the wilderness. If Ajay Ghale stays with Pagan Min right at the start, the fate of the Disciples is unknown. However, since Yuma Lau would be alive in this case, and given Pagan Min regime harsh treatment of Kyrat native religions, eventually they would confront the cult and clashes would be inevitable. Regardless of what Ajay does, the Golden Path still search for the Relic, Amita disgust toward religion would also result in clashes and Sabal fanatical stance would result in sectarian violence considering how his faith heavily vilified Yalung.
