Project at Eden's Gate assumed that Dmitri is just a former hotel staffer who joined the cult, but he is actually an agent from Russia, employed by either FSB or Russian branch of the Assassin's Brotherhood. He was sent by G. Voronina, possibly Master Assassin Galina Voronina, who instructed him in the letter Kompromat infiltrate the cult and hide from the CIA so that they cannot take back a secret tape. The CIA agent Willis Huntley still found him however, and sought The Junior Deputy's help.
Dmitri fights with an AR-C assault rifle, he would switch to 1911 while on vehicles, no different than other Baptists among Cult VIPs.
