The FAL is a real weapon, chambered in the 7.62 Nato cartridge and designed by Fabrique Nationale Herstal In Europe.
The FAL is one of the first weapons the player gets in Far Cry 6, As Clara gives it to the player soon after the opening sequence. In real life the FAL is known for it's high recoil and higher damage and range, and this is somewhat represented in-game. The rifle has adequate range, but however suffers slightly in damage compared to later weapons, and it's high recoil may force the player to use it in semi-automatic or switch to another weapon at close range.
As with other weapons in Far Cry 6, the FAL can be customized with sights, lasers, muzzle devices and paint.
