---|---|---|---|
A Goodbye | If you find this, I'm gone. I still love the Father, but I can't stay. He had a wife before, and a child...I think the rumors are true. I didn't before, but now there's a new Faith and it makes me scared. You'll understand if you're a parent. It hurts me so much to go. I'll never forget you, my precious family. I'm only leaving for the baby's sake. I'll name him Ethan, so that he can be strong and steadfast when the Collapse comes. With love, Megan |
A Prayer Letter | Mother, I've given up trying to see him like you did. I'm sorry. He expected me to behave like his only son while he was everyone's Father, and never mine. He demanded everything and gave me nothing. I think I hate him for abandoning us. Every day I feel like Wrath and Envy grip me tighter. Sometimes I can barely breathe. But this is between you, me, and God. I must be a leader in everyone's eyes, no matter what. I will make you proud. Love, Ethan |
A Scribbled Note | I can't think, I'm getting hungry we need to go topside soon but I'm terrified I think I did the right thing I want to do the right thing now he says he forgives me but I can't I don't know if I did the right thing I don't understand and all he gives me is the Word |
A Scribbled Note | You know. You know best. God tells you. If I listen to you, it's good, and right, and I can help, and I can save people, and make it right, and everything will be okay. If I judge as your judge the judgment is right and just, the judgment is God's Word. I see now. I am so sorry. Please give me a mask I am afraid. No one can know me. Please let me be reborn like the world, cleansed of sin and new, and I will fight to cleanse the sin. Thank you Joseph thank you Father. | ||
Abandon Area | We've uncovered some trailers on the other side of the bridge, so that'll be our new living quarters. They're not in the best condition, but unless you prefer the freezing cold or sweltering heat of these shacks, it's as good as it's gonna get. Consider this area abandoned. | ||
Alcatraz | I was clearing out some of the rooms when I found a book talking about this place. A tour guide. It said that over 300 prisoners could be held here at once. That's great news! Means we got plenty of space for new recruits. | ||
All Alone | Yeah I really mucked it up this time. Boss caught me drinking the ethanol. Set me up in the shed over there and gave me the shit job of gathering all this scrap by myself. Man, I just wanted a little taste, you know? Then one thing leads to another and before you know it I've drunk a day's worth of fuel. Well, half a day. They made me puke most of it back up and into a truck's gas tank. | ||
Am I Cursed? | I seriously have the worst luck. Seventeen days in a row I lose that stupid card game and I gotta work the mine. The boys say I'm cursed. That I gotta keep playing to break it. Well, you bet I will. I'm gonna play until I get rid of this curse and get my luck back. Then someone else will work the damn mine. | ||
Apprentice Note | Hey guys, I need someone to spin the valve upstairs for me so I can get into the supply room. I kinda busted both shins ziplining in. And Master Zilon said it was okay to ask for help! So don't even think about snitching on me. |
Apprentice's Journal | I fucked myself up by jumping off the car lift to reach the second floor, and I thought Master Zilon would tell me to leave. Instead, he told me to turn up the valve that lifts the car. He said only through pain can we see life's tranquil beauty. That's just so deep. Totally worth the broken bones. Now I know why he's our master artist. |
Armory | We're using this area to store our weapons and ammo. Bosses want us to set up a perimeter and take shifts guarding the park. Looks like we're here for the long haul. | ||
Barracks Notice | A bunch of you raised concerns about the Highwaymen coming closer so let's talk battle plans tomorrow for if they do roll up. Meet at the barracks after shift and we'll fuss out the details. With a good plan we'll be just fine. |
BF's Note | Goddamnit Sky, I got better things to do than hit a generator and watch those stupid fish wiggle! Just tell me what the fucking order is! |
Botanist's Journal | They can talk up Hope County all they want, but every place has got its pockets of radioactivity here and there. It's impossible this valley's any different. That's not to say we won't find any uncontaminated soil, I'm just being a realist. We'll have to be careful, especially if we're planning to make that place our hub. | ||
Bridge Ahead | These shipping containers should give us the cover we need. When an alert comes in, don't be a bunch of boneheads - get behind cover. Discretion is how we get the drop on these suckers, so remember, stay out of sight. | ||
Bring It Down | You know the drill shit fucks. Strip it, load it, and haul it to the work sites. If I come back and this place hasn't completely disappeared, it means you weren't working hard enough. | ||
Campsite Note | Still a long way to go. This cave system's bigger than we thought and on top of that it's flooded and unstable. Brian sounded worse in his last call. We're losing too much time adding more grapple points to get further in. |
Captain's Log | Captain of the Shitliner here, After a battle lasting only a few minutes, we've chased off the rodents. Stomped on a couple too. I'm proud to say this ship is now ***Highwaymen territory***. No more wandering the roads. No more temporary shack ups. This is our home and we need to keep it that way. We'll begin fortifying the area. Lay down bridges and zip lines to reach the coast. And last but not least, set up the amps, speakers, and DJ booth into the elevator shaft. Let's get this party started! |
Carmina's Journal | Mom keeps making excuses to keep me home. She thinks she gets why I hate it, but she doesn't. I can't keep her safe if I'm stuck here. I can take care of us both. I have to after what happened to Dad. It's only a matter of time before the Highwaymen come for us too. |
Cheat Sheet | Fucking fish and their fucking colors I can't tell apart. Least I can use the numbers for the order. 2 4 6 1 3 5 |
Check In | No vehicle is cleared to leave without first weighing in and undergoing the necessary maintenance. We've had breakdowns before resulting in resources lost, and that's something we need to avoid at all costs. This is an official order coming from up top. | ||
Club for Fights | You got beef? You got gripes? You and your muddybuddy got a certain unspoken tension you gotta work out? Then meet in the fucking fighting pit and slog each other good until you feel better and your opponent's as dead as your issues. THEN you can sort through the teeth in the dirt and see if any are yours. |
Construction Log | Day 47. The construction goes well. Workers complain more and more of bad dreams, and illness. I noticed that the Chosen few who have taken the Gift do not seem to be as affected, and those who work the night shift near the sacred flames we've lit also seem less harmed. Surely Ethan would benefit from this information, but I hesitate to tell him. The North is a sensitive subject. I'll likely tell a priest instead and leave it to them to disclose. |
Cult Note | That fucking deputy did so much damage on the eve of the Collapse. Everyone needs to be careful. If the yellow valve is open, be sure not to hit the red pipe with anything. Thing is so damn busted that it explodes outward. Bad enough we have to deal with all these wild animals sneaking in here without this blowing up in our own faces. |
Cult Note | The Collapse is here and we're not ready. We've got fix this place up as fast as we can if we're going to find any kind of shelter here. We've sprung another leak. But I don't want anyone to panic. The two yellow valves control the water. We can turn them to block the water while we make repairs. Just make sure they stay closed or the whole place will flood. |
Cult Note | This recklessness with the water system will spell the death of us all. If you open every valve with water flowing into the central tank AND you forget to open the pipes flowing out, you will FLOOD THE SILO and we'll perish. We are already tested with famine and sickness. We have no Father to guide us through these dark years. A flood will kill us all easily. |
Cult Note | We were dying in this broken shell, damp and sick and starving, until Joseph himself appeared at the top of the silo. Everything he said came true. I knew! In my heart of hearts, I knew the Father was alive! I've never had more faith in him than I do now. He says that we're going to leave the old world behind. Which is just as well, because I never want to see this cursed place again. Let it sink to a watery Hell. I'm climbing up, into a New Eden. |
Design Notes | Lordy, whoever hid the supplies here must've been tall as hell because ain't no way I'm clearing the barbed wire at this height. Gonna try rigging up a way to drop in from up top. If I can figure that out I'll have a sweet hiding spot for my own stuff. |
Directions | Wanna party? Go right. Wanna go to shore? Go left. | ||
Dog Question | Reminder-- Ask big bro about that thing he said where if you eat something if you get its powers and shit The dog Timber is smart as fuck so if I eat it will I get smarter Should it be a special gift for the Twins then? Wait that might piss em off like hinting they're dumb |
Done and Done | It's not perfect, but this lil shack me and the boys put together is helping everyone around here get some shut eye. We reused a bunch of wood and metal sheets we found around the park and hammered away all week. Good idea if you ask me, since it looks like we'll be here for awhile. | ||
Don't Touch The Fuse Box! | Know what I hate? You fuckers thinking you're all a bunch of geniuses. Leave the electrical stuff to me. I'm warning you. You keep fiddling with this thing and it'll be on the fritz for good, and then that's it -- no more music, no more parties. Jesus Christ I sound like a dad. -Mark |
Employment Letter | Dear Mr. Richard, Your application to Wiki-Bean-ia has been approved, congratulations! You are the very first scout and that is an honor. Your pay will be 1 meal per day with increases commensurable with accumulated resources. Remember you are helping me build up a dream my daddy talked about and your contributions are invaluable to this company. Thank you! Be proud and remember, at Wiki-Bean-ia we reach around each others' backs. Yours sincerely, Bean |
Factory Access | Okay, I know we're not a military operation over here in the strictest sense but for shit's sake, don't leave the key to the bullet factory just lying around! Carry it with you, thudfuck! It's not rocket engine surgery. |
Faded Journal | Times are good. Now that we've got this refinery up and running no one's gonna be wanting for ethanol anymore. But old habits die hard. I'm still squirreling stuff away like it's the early days of the Collapse. Got a bunch stashed smack dab in the middle of the old grain elevator. You know. Just in case. |
Faded Journal Page | As if those cultists haven't done enough. Now they're going through the county getting rid of any working equipment they find like our lives don't depend on it. I've locked away everything I can and put the key in the fridge. They won't think to look in there. And there's no way they'd try to break it apart. |
Faded Journal Page | Crap, I don't think I'm ever going to clear this place out. I was hoping I could fix it up into something like a home but it was hard enough just digging out the supplies left behind. There's still stuff in there that I couldn't get to. Damn my messed up back. |
Faded Letter | Bean, I sent you away because the truth is I'm dying and I don't want you to see that shit. You're not ready. But you'll get ready. You have to. Find a new family. Make yourself useful. People will keep you alive if you're helping them, with Wiki-Bean-ia and shit. There's a lot of shit I didn't teach you but you'll be okay. Keep doing what you're doing. Just don't fucking ask anybody to be your daddy, okay? You only get one. Guess that's it. Seeya around kid. --Dad |
Faded Letter | If you have come here seeking refuge, turn your steps away. The church stands empty. Fall's End is lost to the Highwaymen. Go to Prosperity for safe haven. But if you cannot make the journey, hold fast and I will find you. Pastor Jerome |
Faded Note | If you came lookin' round for old Wendell, I'm not here anymore. I locked this place up for old times' sake and went south where I'm hoping it's warmer. Wish I had more supplies to leave behind for the taking, but I gave my 'Nam stash to the Deputy way back to fight Eden's Gate. Key's out on the porch. Help yourself to what's left. And Godspeed. |
Faded Note | I've thought about it really hard and I've decided I'm going to New Eden. There's something about them that really pulls me in. Life's rough out here though, so all this stuff I'm leaving behind? Take it. I can't carry it all to the fire to be destroyed, and I feel really bad getting rid of something that might save someone else, so...just keep this hush-hush. |
Faded Page | Ain't a working engine left in this whole county. Gasoline's just plain gone. But there's gotta be a way to make engines take wood or coal and yours truly is gonna figure it out. I boarded up my supplies across the way. Even tucked away a few tunes on the player to pass the time. Three years of this Collapse ain't gonna bring me down. Buckle up, world. This girl's gonna get her hands dirty. |
Fallen Journal Page | I remember old Roberts. Always had a tune for every occasion, even when the Peggies took over town. Now it's just me. Wish I still had Roberts' music. I've searched what's left of the place, but no luck. Pretty sure I'm not looking hard enough though. The Collapse hid things better than a person ever could. |
Family Note | Kid, You're lucky we've done so well this year, otherwise I wouldn't let you keep him. Horatio would be Sunday's dinner in no time. And Monday's. Just keep him hidden, ok? He goes grunting and squealing out in the open, we'll attract some unwanted attention for sure. Not everyone in Hope County's done as well as us. |
Farewell Letter | My beloved Joseph, I raised Ethan as a non-believer but after the Collapse I told him everything, I taught him to love your Word so he can be your son. Please take care of him. Don't hate him because I ran away, I wasn't brave enough to stand by you. Yours always, Megan |
Farmer's Journal | If Hope County is as fertile as Carmina says it is, I figure we'll triple the amount we normally grow in the first year. It'll be unlike anything we've ever seen before. We'll have fuel. We'll have food. But I can't shake the idea that she's not telling us the whole truth about what's going on over there. But Rush has bought into it hook, line, and sinker. I hope this deal is worth our while. | ||
Fixing the Gas Tanks | If I hear one more of you runnyguts thudfucks tell me to patch the gas canisters on the roof again I'm gonna lose my freakin' marbles. I don't give a shit about leaky tanks! None of us do, that's the goddamned point! We're here for a good time not a long time, and I don't think patching up some stupid fucking propane tanks is gonna make me a good time! So stop asking! |
Food Storage | We moved all produce out of the lower cars. The smell was attracting too many animals. We actually got into an all out brawl with a bunch of skunks. Barry locked 'em up just below, but not before getting pissed on of course. What a sucker. | ||
Food, Materials, Weapons | That's the golden trio. The people manning the farms around here are soft. We got them in our pockets. They give us what we want and we leave them alone. As for the materials; just keep looking through bunkers, crates and basically anything with a lock on it. Weapons on the other hand -- we gotta do better. Had a woman building a fucking saw launcher right under our noses. A saw launcher. Imagine if we didn't confiscate that thing. From now on we've got to make a point of vetting the residents better. Who knows what the rest of these asshats are cooking up. |
Fuck This | I don't know whose idea it was to put me with the garage team, but this fucking sucks. I'm not a handy person and I fixing shit. I'd punch someone so hard in the face right now but my hands are all black and blue from missing with the hammer. Garbage. | ||
FUCKIN REMEMBER THE KEY | DON'T FORGET DO NOT EAT THE RETRIEVER you gave it a fuckton of poison so itd barf up that key don't be a dumbshit and go getting the runs again love, yourself |
Gators | There's gators in these swamps. Doesn't surprise me with the water levels being all out of whack since the nukes went off. Keep your eyes open. Any of them start running amok on land and they'll be a headache to deal with. | ||
Getting Stronger By The Day | Morale's been pretty high around here with all the goodies we're bringing in. Can't wait to see what we do with all this stuff. Who knows, maybe our little outfit will grow to be stronger than Mickey and Lou's! Bout fuckin' time, too. | ||
GF's Note | Dylan, For the last time, no, I'm not changing the door. Regular locks won't cut it with the Highwaymen. And I told you already. If you're having such a hard time figuring it out, go to the house. I practically spelled out the key there. Skylar |
Goodbye | A deal's a deal, rabbit. I'm out. You'll still have some Highwaymen to deal with. They won't want to give up the good life they've got here, but that's your problem to solve. Me, I'm gonna head back east and look for my mom. A long time ago, our dad made us leave her behind. I'm gonna go see if she's still alive out there. It's a long shot, but it's all I got left. |
Grace's Reflection | Despite everything, life was going fine. I was able to keep watch over the Rye family while they got people together to build Prosperity. There was the odd troublemaker, but nothing I couldn't handle. Then my eyes started going bad. By the time the Highwaymen came in, I'd lost a step. Couldn't rely on one shot, one kill anymore. I was getting into dog fights, barely getting away unscathed. I had to improvise. Gather materials, build better weapons. That's the key to survival out here. When the going gets tough, the tough make better guns. |
Grace's Training | Never thought of myself as a teacher. But I remember showing Carmina how to shoot and thinking to myself, "This kid's a natural." Made me think back to the days of the Resistance. I want to build a new one, to fight back against the Highwaymen. I can't lead them in battle, but I can toughen them up, and teach them some new skills. I even set up a little clubhouse for them. North of the FANG Shelter, just before the collapsed tunnel. |
Grimy Page | These Highwaymen and their cars and their guns, thinking they can take whatever they want. Ha! If those bootlickers ever show up we'll see if they can get into my hiding spot. Sure as eggs are eggs they'll never realize it's right in front of them. |
Gut It | This building's the weakest of the lot. Empty it out, then tear it down starting with the second floor. We'll redistribute the furniture, and use the materials to reinforce the structures closest to the bridge. | ||
HAHAHA O-FUCKING-KAY ASSHOLES | Are you fucking kidding me?! Nuclear war?! Now?! Seriously?! Worst timing. The. Worst. I literally, but literally just finished a final edit of my masterpiece. Blood Dragons, zombies, martians -- it had it all. MY FUCKING SWAN SONG on route to millions at the box office AND in my fucking wallet AND tied to strippers' G-strings. Is money even good now?! UGH. That's fucking it. Whoever isn't dead is fired. I need a walk. I'm gonna go take a walk. Can I walk outside? Fuck it. | ||
Helipad | Cleared the top of the gas station, now I just gotta put a big ol' symbol on it so the pilot knows where to land. We'll use the garage to store all of the gear coming in, then split it up and send it off to the work sites. | ||
Hey darlings | Got yourself a pair of fine muscled arms? Down to have a sweet sweaty time with this dashing specimen of humanity? Just head around to the back and climb on up so I can see those bulging biceps of yours. I've even got a few songs on the player for atmosphere. Oh yes I do. |
Highwayman Note | From all the gears and shit scattered around here, it looks like someone was trying to build some kinda machine. Whatever it is, I'm guessing it's gonna be fucking huge. Check out the area and report back when you find it. Maybe it's something we can use. |
Highwayman Note | Good job finding this place. Plenty of room for cages and a nice open spot for "reeducation." Any rabbits who want to cause problems will change their ways after seeing what happens here. I'm off to bring in the equipment we'll need. Get a crew together so we can set up when I'm back. |
Highwayman Orders | Anybody you catch goes to one of three places. If they've got strength or smarts, send them to the coal mine. If they want to join up with us, send them to the fight pit. If they're a pain in the ass, send them to the Rye house for fun and games. |
Highwayman Orders | There's a crazy preacher with a shotgun running around attacking convoys. If you catch him, my boss wants to talk to him as fast as possible. Bring him to the old Kellet place and we'll ship him off for questioning, pronto. |
Highwaymen Journal | Looking down at this trash heap makes me think it looked like where I grew up before the Collapse went down. Wonder if the trailers back home are fucked up worse than these ones. Probably. They were ugly as hell even before the bombs. |
Highwaymen Journal | The smell of this place fucks me right up. One whiff of all that hot metal and dust and suddenly I got the shakes, I got the mother of all sweats, I'm choking up like the bombs just dropped. A blink and it's like I never left. Fuck. I gotta shoot something. |
Highwaymen Note | A beast of a pig like that is wasted on these scabs. It's a FUCKING waste! It's gonna be much more appreciated as the main course after the next derby. Gored fucking six of us before we locked it in here. Gored by a boar! Metal as hell, but it's not a fucking party, thudfucks! Gotta wait for a big truck to haul this fucker outta here. |
Highwaymen Note | FRESH meat, you idiots, bring me FRESH meat. I'm actually picky about what I put in your mouths. Or keep bringing me shit and I'll feed you shit, and then you'll be useless when the hippies come creeping at night. That what you want? |
Highwaymen Note | Here are the supplies, just like you asked. Next time I swing by this place better be armed to the teeth. See if you can nab one of those cult asswipes while you're here. Twins seem to think they're hiding some kind of secret and if we can figure it out for 'em, we're set for life. |
Highwaymen Note | I bet there's something good in that buried-to-fuck warehouse. We just gotta find a way to bust in through the roof and then we're good to go. |
Highwaymen Note | I can see there's some good shit in the shed but the door's locked. Search the area and see if you find the key. | ||
Highwaymen Note | I told you Jerome was gonna be a problem. I told you and you LAUGHED. Damn RIGHT I'm glad he shot up all your shit. Have fun finding him. Yeah that's right. I'm not helping. That's what you get for calling me paranoid. |
Highwaymen Note | I want lookouts on patrol here at all times. As long as we keep this puddle we got a major advantage and I'm not letting that go. Anyone tries taking this place, gun 'em down. And don't get the water too bloody. |
Highwaymen Note | It's come to my attention that some of you little shits are keeping more than your fair share on raids. You know the rules: half to you, half to the group. I catch anyone getting greedy, I'm gonna tell Lou. Then you'll be sorry. |
Highwaymen Note | Keep an eye out for any valley folk trying to take this place back. Shoot them dead the moment you see them. Those rabbits need firewood the way we need ethanol, so the longer we keep them the fuck out, the worse off they'll be. |
Highwaymen Note | Look, I don't care how that wolverine stole the key and I don't care how many of you got mauled chasing after it. If it's nesting in the church, then go inside and burn its nest and take the fucking key from the ashes. I needed that shed opened yesterday. |
Highwaymen Note | Look, I know the fucking wall of fog is weird as shit but keep an eye on it anyway, alright? Far as we know that's the only place the hippies come from. So just stay sharp and aim between the eyes if you see 'em and everything'll be fucking peachy. |
Highwaymen Note | Looks like we killed ourselves a real pile of losers. Search the place for anything useful. My guess is these guys had something extra stashed around here somewhere. There isn't enough stuff in the house for this many people. |
Highwaymen Note | Mickey wants the mine up and running so send some able-bodied rabbits down that way. If they're too weak to work in a mine, send them to the Bullet Farm. If anyone starts seeing things our way, give 'em a shot at the fighting pit. Anyone who looks like they might cause problems, run 'em down to the old airfield and we'll sort them out. |
Highwaymen Note | Note to self: never take one of the runts on raids again. Stupid kids always think it's all guns and glory, then pitch a fit because no one ever told them half the work is fixing tires and shaking down survivors. Wish I could leave them all in a ditch. |
Highwaymen Note | Ok so lotta shit in the hole seems perfectly workable before they burnt it who tries to burn a fridge why are they afraid of fridges and shit the guy i roughed up said theyre stopping the collapse from happening again dont see how you can make a international nuclear incidint with a fridge but whatever dont get it, dont like it, i bet theyre lying |
Highwaymen Note | Shit people promised the house: Open Mike - 1 bottle ethanol, 2 sets bike tires Lil' Reggie - a fat dog Richard - some kind of paper bullshit Racy Lacy - 1 helmet, 4 jars grease Little Fucker - a derby car Rogan - Open Mike |
Highwaymen Note | This house is the last place we have to check for a way to turn the machine off but fuck me if I know how to get in. The door's chained from the inside. I can see the padlock from the grate on the roof. Can someone with a brain figure out how to break it from there? |
Highwaymen Note | This machine turned itself on when we drove by and if that's not an invitation I don't know what is. Problem now though is that it's making this weird lightning shit and blocking the bunker door RIGHT in front of us. It's been a long day and I want to get looting. Figure out how the fuck we shut off the power to this thing. |
Highwaymen Note | This place is up and running, so anyone who doesn't have a working ride better bust their ass and get one made. These rides are our lives. It gives us an edge over the local losers and helps everyone earn their keep. And if you don't earn, then you'll need a car to drive in the Punishment Run. So get those fucking wheels. |
Highwaymen note | We lost track of the Rye girl. She's gone to get help. She probably won't last a week on her own, but I want this tunnel locked down. Nobody else gets out, and nobody gets in. Send a runner to the Twins if you see any signal that she's coming back. |
Highwaymen Note | What's up, you lousy lumps? You want the goods in this storeroom? WELL GUESS WHO'S GOT THE KEY? Not me, obviously. Boss took it up to the breakroom off the main warehouse, the one with all the beer and shit. And GUESS WHO CAN'T GO IN THE STOREROOM ANYMORE? Me, because "jack off elsewhere, asswipe." Life is fucked, my buddies. |
Highwaymen Note | Which genius shot the losers here before they gave us their keys? I'm gonna put your head through this fucking door. Search the house and find whatever unlocks this thing. You'd better hope there's something good behind it. |
Highwaymen Note | Yeah yeah live free or die and all but for the love of fuck, you can hold a gun and take a shit at the same time, thudfucks! Don't drop your fucking gun in the shitter! Obviously! You gotta carry around a shitty gun! No one wants to be muddybuddies with someone with a shitty gun. Keep it clean, idiots. |
Highwaymen Note | You guys, Master Zilon said it himself: He built this workshop the way it is to train our bodies and minds. If we want to be even half the artist he is, we have to do as he does, no excuses. So quit complaining about how hard it is to get inside the supply room and just be grateful he's letting us learn from him at all. |
Highwaymen Notice | I heard you fucks are grouching because you'd rather be out shooting farmers so let me get some shit straight. You want to shoot farmers? You want good guns? Then you need actual BULLETS, assholes, and that's why we built a damn forge in the first place. Next one to run their fucktrumpet mouth gets put on digging shitters for a month. Don't test me. |
Highwaymen Notice | Unfortunately it's too damn hard to get live targets for everyday practice so you're all just gonna have to take turns when we have 'em. Meantime you can shoot up the fake ones to your hearts' delight. Try not to bust them up though, those are hard to get too. |
Highwaymen Notice | When you're all done celebrating taking over an empty building GET BACK ON FUCKING PATROL. We've got traces of that dirtbag hippie cult around this place and I don't want any surprises. |
Highwaymen Notice | You wanna get in, key's by the ethanol machine. I found it on one of the thudfuck farmers we shot taking the place and needed to scrub off the blood. | ||
Highwaymen Orders | Good job on the outpost, and I fucking mean it. I know damn well none of you want to be here because of the creeps up north. Salvagers, keep dredging scrap for the forges. Everyone else, keep an eye on the fog and raise the alarm if those dirt fucks show up. |
Home Sweet Home | Finally finished boarding all of our gear. For awhile there I figured we'd be dragging ourselves around forever, but this ship -- man, we've found ourselves a place to stay for good. Can't wait to see what we do with it. | ||
Hope County Survivors | A lot of us around here were preppers, so despite the clusterfuck with Eden's Gate we managed to scrape through nuclear winter. In recent years, some new people came to Hope County, some were pushed south from the cold north, others from the famine and disease out east. At first we all sort of kept to ourselves, but gradually a sense of community was reborn. We started accomplishing more once we were able to start trusting each other again. Until the Highwaymen showed up, the worst we had to deal with were wild animals. Now we risk losing everything we've worked so hard for. |
Hurk's Note to Blade | Hey little man, I know you can't read or even understand words yet, but I want you to know that Daddy loves you. Being away from you is the toughest thing I've ever done, but these people need me to save them. One day you'll understand that there are 3 kinds of people in the world. The sheep that needs to be protected. The Wolf that stalks his prey. And the Sheepdog whose larger than average genitalia, natural athleticism, and pure alphaness shames the wolf into submission. We are a sheepdog family. We protect the sheep and make wolves our cucks who then have to watch while we bang sheep. Love, Daddy |
I Don't Want To Breathe | This pool of water fucking stinks. End of story. | ||
Important Instructions | Take a wooden pallet and carefully stack the crates that are marked to ship out. Then, plastic wrap the fuck out of the thing so nothing topples over. | ||
It's Coming Together | The beams from the old foundation are really sturdy. We're going to reinforce them and use them as our building blocks. Pretty soon, it'll look like a little city in here. I know we always talk about scavenging and moving on, but maybe, just maybe we'll stay awhile this time. | ||
Jackpot | We're sitting on a goddamn goldmine. Got a crew stripping the prison. Another crew searching the waters. Another crew out in the city across the pond. Soon we'll show those fucking Twins. We'll go back to the way it used to be. Pops' way. | ||
Joseph's Diary | After days of fasting and prayer I have heard the Voice again. And I have seen what is to come, and the face of the one who will shepherd Eden when I am gone. It was not a face I recognize. It did not look like me. So it is not my child of blood, but they will be my child just as all are my children. I will leave my Word here when I go, and when it is returned to Eden, that is when we will manifest our destiny. God has not shown me what that will be, but I have faith it will be what is right. |
Joseph's Diary | The deputy is wracked by guilt. I thought about killing them. As a mercy. But I will have them understand my forgiveness. I will have them know what it is to be judged as they have judged. And when they do, when they crawl out of themselves with nothing left but hunger, I will tell them who they are. God has a plan for them yet. And so do I. |
Joseph's Diary | Today I showed my son the Gift. As I feared, he immediately wanted it. Anything to be stronger rather than build his own strength. I explained to him God did not want him to have it. He told me that one day I would die, and that when I did, he would simply take what he wanted. Every day he reminds me sin is rooted deep within his soul. I forgave my siblings for that, and I will try to forgive my son. But I will not let him do as he pleases. That was my mistake with Jacob, John, and even Faith. It won't happen again. |
Journal Page | Finally! The last day of moving all my stuff to my new spot down the river. What a relief. It's such a long trip. I'm so glad I set up those campsites to take breaks along the way. I had to put up flags to mark each spot too after animals messed my camps up and I got lost. Ugh. But I'm almost there! Just one more batch of things to carry. Jingle-jangle goes the key. I can't wait! |
Journal Page | I think I stared for ten whole minutes when I found Dylan burnt up by the door. Couldn't figure out why I was just tired and not sad. Then I dumped him in the closest pond to spare my back digging a grave, and I remembered how it was. You're crazy, Sky. Leaving's stupid, Sky. Just fish at the same place forever, Sky. I don't know why I never left Hope County on my own. At least I'm getting a move on now. |
Journal Page | Oh paint me green and call me pissed, those Highwaymen fucks are here now. What the hell?! I think I just gotta leg it. Just fucking run for the waterfall and go down the rocks. My new spot's not too far once I get there, so if I make it I'll be safe. And I've got enough stuff stashed up that I can hide in that cave for ages. |
Journal Page | Wound up hopping over here to get around the bears. Now my shoes are wet, and my socks are wet, and my pants are wet. What fun. Once I dry off it's back along the river for me. I swear more animals show up each time I make this trip. |
Journal Page | Wow, I sure hate carrying stuff through a river. And I've got at least three more trips to make, fuck me. Then I have to lug everything over that stupid bridge and down the stupid hill and somehow survive the stupid wolves and bears... Everything is terrible. |
Letter to Twins | Mickey, Lou, Been awhile since the split. Listen, I wanted to reach out because we've run into some problems down here with the San Francisco unit. Hear you've got some troubles of your own up there in Hope County lately. Maybe we can help each other. We'll discuss in private at the next derby dinner. In the meantime, I'm sending you and yours a little something. See it as a token of my good faith. - Sasha |
Load Up | Check your ammo before heading to your posts, and don't be greedy. This stash needs to last us until the next supply drop, and the chopper won't be here for at least another day. | ||
MEATFORT MENU | WHAT WE'RE KILLING AND EATING THIS WEEK Free range organic-ass dogs: Timber - Akita Layla - Husky ??? - mutts As usual: Deers Goats Anyone who piss off the chef |
Memorial Note | Here lies Brian, father and friend. You deserve a better grave than this. I'm sorry that we failed you. Rest in peace. |
Merle's Goodbye | Feels like it was yesterday - Casey came over after the Testy Festy to have a few beers. Hell, he earned it. He brought the community together when nobody else knew how. Slaved all day cooking up a delicious meal that reminded us of who we are. So there we were, drinking beers, talking about the festival, and the next thing I knew the ground was shaking, the windows clattering, sounds of explosions. We gunned it for my bunker. Made it just in time, too. That was two years ago. Two years already. Poor Casey didn't make it through the first. Fell ill, not even the medicine I stocked up coulda saved him. Nothing left for me now. Lost my buddy. Lost my home. If you find this, I've headed south. My old friend Burt's got a place in small desert valley. If anyone coulda survived this, it'd be him. Merle |
MOM SUCKS | I told her to give me more food or else she'd be sorry but she STILL KEPT A PLATE FOR HERSELF so I took all her stuff and ran away into the woods and now I live in this cave and I never have to share again I took her music too take that mom |
Nadine's Journal | Before the Collapse, Eden's Gate destroyed our homes and turned everything to shit. Now the Highwaymen are here doing the exact same thing. I can't live through that again. I have to leave all this behind. I've got seventeen years of target practice. I'm going to pack up and leave, and search the country for any comic books that are left. I'll have the world best - and only - collection. That's something worth seeing. |
Nadine's Journal | Seventeen years of this miserable Collapse. Seventeen years all by myself, thinking of revenge. This machine started off as a bunker gate. Then I made it a target gallery. Then I made it both. I imagined that the targets were all the people who made fun of me for my comic book collection. Pull the lever, hit all the targets on each side, and presto: instant therapy and access to the bunker. |
Nana's Journal | I had a husband. Maybe. Someone sure as shootin' lived with me out here before the dust went up. Could have been a daughter. Granddaughter? I taught her to shoot. Or was that Gracie? Ah, boy georgie. Gotta consider my mind closed that vault door for a reason. Lord knows what I'll be if I go openin' all that up. Maybe I can keep living like I popped outta the earth turnin' seventy living in a corn tower. For now, at any rate. |
New Eden | This is what's left of Eden's Gate, and what Joseph grew from it once he left his bunker. They've completely rejected everything to do with the modern world before the Collapse. Electricity, engines, generators, guns: it's all gone. After the Collapse Joseph gathered all his people and built a new compound up North. For the better part of a decade we left each other alone while we rebuilt. Now they only leave their compound at night to attack the Highwaymen. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear those masked fuckers are afraid of Joseph's people. |
New Eden Catechism | Who gave us the Word of God? Joseph, our Father! And what did that Word say? To shun the sins of man and embrace the old ways! And why does God love the old ways? They are the ways harmonious with the soul! And how does God prove this? With his tests and with the gift! So what must we do? Burn the new and embrace the old that we may live on beloved by God! And what will happen if we do not? God will send again disaster, without hope of redemption! |
New Eden Confession | Dear god please purge the sin from me. On my first ever patrol yesterday we passed by a homestead of sinners, and there was music coming from it, and I felt my spirits lifted by it even though I know it's a sin. My mouth denounced it but inside I was joyous. I heard the words about surfing and wanted to know more. I can't tell anyone. I'll throw 5 guns in the sacred fire if you purge this sin from me, please god. |
New Eden Note | A priest asked me to help Ethan with a sacred task, of course I said yes. He led me and some brothers and sisters to the threshold of the North. The Father said not to go there, and God protects it with a fog that hurts the mind and body. I became scared. Some of us were given a drink and torches and told to enter. I was not given a torch, or the drink, and very soon I fainted and had to be carried away. I feel ill and have strange dreams. I can't tell anyone because the priest said it is a secret task that we did. I write this in case something happens to me. I'm frightened. | ||
New Eden Note | Ethan, The newcomer is drawing the attention of the highwaymen. An assault on Prosperity is inevitable. More concerning: I have heard brothers and sisters wonder about this person and Joseph's last vision. Clearly they are desperate for hope and for the Father's guidance. We have stationed a scout near the island to keep you informed. Destroyed 4 vehicles, 12 guns, 8 highwaymen in the southeast. Had 3 casualties: Brother Isaac, Sister Jane, younger Brother Sean, may they rest in peace. Hunting parties returning with 2 elk, 5 deer, 13 grouse. New Chosen serving well. Praise be to our Father. |
New Eden Note | Ethan, The new Chosen are taking to the cougars well. It's nice to see them raised properly—children and cougars both. We only had four minor mauls in the past month, which is better than last month. Soon they'll be naming them and off on their first patrols. A fine group. |
New Eden Note | Fellow Chosen, The new generation underestimates the danger of sinful objects. Remind them daily that humanity's Pride in the making of stuff is what made the Collapse possible. God wiped clean this planet to give us a second chance. In his love He made it difficult so we would not wallow in the danger of luxury just like Before. We must never walk down the same Path of sin--by burning those forbidden things we help remove temptation. Remind the young ones that even the Judge obeys the stricture of fire. What more proof of Joseph's righteousness do they need? That is your instruction, from Ethan himself. |
New Eden Note | I have gathered up and hidden some sinful things to be taken to the fire. My own patrol route takes me elsewhere. Blessings in advance for any member of the family who does the right thing. |
New Eden Note | I might get excommunicated for trying to understand what is happening here, but I can't stop. It looks like acute radiation sickness, but I don't understand how. The stuff that makes people sick stops being toxic not long after the bombs. It's been years. So is there some other pollution nearby? My soul for a damn Geiger counter. But then there are the hallucinations. Now that I know is from the Bliss we dumped in the water Before, but I'm not going to bring that up and get kicked out. Nobody talks about those flowers any more. I'm urging the foreman to hurry but I think he smells the sin on me. | ||
New Eden Note | I write this dying. The masked ones ambushed us as we prepared our solemn duty. Now their souls will wander lost before God. Whoever reads this, I beg you: complete the rite. Gather our Chosen martyrs upon their final pyre and bless their bodies with holy flame. |
New Eden Note | If you love Joseph ask yourself: why does he get to make all the decisions? What proof do we have that he ever heard the voice of God? If you were born before the Collapse you know it didn't take a prophet to see a disaster coming. His guess just happened to be right. Law of averages. The Bliss, the Gift, it all has an explanation, I know it. I think The Judge is on to me, but I don't care. I've gone looking for other dissenters. I'll die rather than accept this insanity. |
New Eden Note | More workers are having strange dreams, this strange mist is making people so sick that they need to stop working. But the gates are almost finished. One brother is especially agitated, says we need to hurry. I'm going to recommend he has a long talk with some priests when we get back, I'm sure he's thinking sinful thoughts. He's older, saw a lot of the world Before, so he's extra suspect. Joseph wants safe passage to his sanctuary in the North, and he wants gates built, that's good enough for me. Should be good enough for him. |
New Eden Note | Sister Wren, My heart is beset by sorrow. I wish our fellow Chosen still lived. To think they died bringing us these very objects to destroy...! It should be their hands casting these heresies into the Flame of Eden, not ours. I do not think I will ever outlive my grief. Brother Elias |
New Eden Note | This whole place is messed up. I thought I could live here, but now I know why there's nobody else around. If you're reading this, don't breathe in the Bliss. It's different now. I'm going to try and run. Nothing worked out the way Joseph said it would. |
New Eden Prayer | God, I am praying for Ethan today. I was refused the gift some years ago, and have worked hard to remove sin from my soul ever since. Recently I spoke to Ethan while we broke bread and I tried to comfort him and relate to him over the fact that I've also been refused the gift. I swear, God, he looked like he wanted to strike me, but the family all around us made it so he couldn't. Please help him. | ||
New Eden Prayer | I remember the Bliss you showed us Before, that we could give joy to others in the face of fear and doubt. It was what was needed then. And now you've given us the Gift, so we can sort the sinners from the deserving and remain righteous in the wake of your cleansing. Always you know what we need. I pray I am worthy to receive the Gift soon, but if I am not, I will always remain a loyal servant of you and of Joseph, your speaker. |
New Occupants | Ran into old no eyes. Found out she was using this place to whip up one wicked ass gun. Don't even know how she managed that. Anyway, we shipped that thing off to the old rail yard pronto. Mickey and Lou are gonna love it. As for us, we're gonna dig in for awhile and comb the place. Who knows what else she was hiding here. |
New Orders | Look at this fucking place. We built a damn fortress. Now it's time to branch out and search for other parts of the wreckage. We'll strip this area last. For now, fill these structures with whatever you can find. All the loot comes here. We're best fit to defend it. | ||
Nick's Note | Walking is for suckers, so I want to get this garage up and running as fast as I can. I even got a boat shed down by the river, and a helipad just outside the walls. Stupid fancy Roger gets his own helipad but I'm gonna fly again one day, I'll tell you that for nothin'. I'm also fixin' to repair my old plane. Right now I got everything but the wings. I'm gonna take it out for a spin. If I play my cards right, I'll be able to give Carmina a plane for her birthday. Can't wait to see the look on her face. |
Not Safe Here Anymore | The Highwaymen are coming for the ship. Fighting them is suicide, I don't care what some of the others think. We need to leave. If you're with me, follow the path behind the house. I've got a boat ready to go, but I'm not going to wait forever. - Oli |
Note About Warden Frank | Man, I wanna go hang out on the roof with Frank. I bet you can see all the scabs from up there, all sad and runny. But nooo, he just has to fuck around up there by himself with his muddybuddy guards. What a tool. Should just bump him off. Then *I* can fuck around up there by myself. |
Note from a Chosen | Everything has changed so quickly. The world. Our Father. His Path for us. I survived, praise the Father, in a small bunker. After months I came here by boat to pray, and found others. They told me we had walked through Eden's Gate, and were now a New Eden, and that I must leave my guns and my boat behind. Jacob would have laughed. But he's not here. The other Chosen gave me a bow. Now we're off to deliver more survivors to the Father. If you read this, put away the sins of the past and find us. |
Note from Grace | Back in the day when we were fighting peggies, 8-Bit Pizza became a hangout for those of us who needed a break. Even in our darkest moments we never forgot to laugh and sometimes that was enough to keep fighting. Figured we could use a place like that again. I wish my friend Mary May was alive to see this. |
Note from the Twins | The Pit's important. Don't just bring us whatever dirty rabbit came limping down the road, give us the best. Our people deserve to see the baddest, strongest motherfuckers on this side of the radiation belt fight for their party of a life. Take from inside our own people, don't take the scabs. Maybe if the scab's an exception, some badass we haven't had the pleasure of yet, deal 'em in, but it's a sacred fucking space. Keep it that way. |
Note to Loggers | Just wanted to let y'all know you've been doing great work and we've been blasting through our quotas this month. With all the extra wood we'll be able to hammer ourselves another building just like this one across the way. This place is about to get real pretty, and it's all thanks to you. |
Note to Smelters | Just because we got a prison full of thudfucks making us bullets doesn't mean we can slack off on ammunition. We've got more than enough scrap collected, so get smelting. I want us rolling in bullets by the end of the week. |
Notes for a New Song | Lyric ideas for a new Joseph praise song: --he was a peach picker, he farms again now, god's cyclical plan --he steers us from a path of violence, full of contrition (rhyme with mission) --through him God gave us a new gift and a new vision for Eden --he will know the Shepherd (no rhymes) when they come just like he knew the seals would be broken The priests want it done quickly, Joseph might return at any moment |
Old Journal | Nothing like a goddamn bomb to make the light bulbs go off. Ding ding ding! People are fuckin' monsters! One bomb and they're looting each others' homes like they never shared a Sunday dinner. I've known these folk my whole life! Fuck trusting each other. Fuck sticking together. I'll live alone in this bus till it kills me. |
Old Train Ride | These rails could use some patch work, but once that's done, it'll make it easier for us to move our stock around. Find what you can to fill in any gaps and build bridges to the surrounding warehouses. | ||
On Guard | Word on the street is that another Highwaymen unit got wind of our little find and it interested them a whole lot. If I had to guess, it's those greedy fucks down by the bay. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if those shit stains showed up and tried to pull the rug out from under us. They wanna come in here loud and proud? Let them. These roadblocks oughta make them think twice, or at least slow them down. That'll give our guys up on the cliffs the time they need to put a real hurtin' on them. This find is OURS, nobody else's. And if we need to make an example out of one of our own, we will. | ||
On Irwin | That Irwin guy is such a little dweeb. People treat him worse than they treat kids and they're mean to us ALL the time. He must be some kinda scab. But Mickey and Lou keep him around. They even told me to help him out if he asked. I don't get why. We should just feed him to the dogs like everyone else who's not good enough. Oh I know, I betcha they think it's funny. Like a big secret he doesn't know. HA! He'll be dog poo eventually, no doubt about it. |
Oopsie | Hi, I'm Donnie McSneaky, and I'm having what you might call...a bad day. I slithered my way onto this here island thinking I could rip off these handsome devils but booooooy was I wrong. I got my sorry ass busted. Now I don't feel so good. In fact I'm pretty fucked. | ||
Operation Under Way | The team's firing on all cylinders. I give it a few weeks before we completely tear this place apart and move everything into the main cooling tower. The others have already begun putting together a living space in there. This whole operation is turning out to be easier than I thought it would. | ||
Orders | Move the furniture from this building into the next one. Leave the kitchen stuff. We'll store produce here and use this space for breaks and meals. | ||
Please Read | Carmina, Be back before dark and don't argue with me about this again. The Highwaymen just took Fall's End. They're everywhere. I need you to be smart. Please. I can't lose you too. Mom |
Prisoner Note | They barely feed us, they work us till we die, they keep us all in the yard like farm animals. And the whole time, we all know we're just helping them kill more people. Can't be a murdering army of psychopaths without bullets to spare. I gotta get out of here. I tried to get out through the factory floor, got close even, but the last gate was locked. Taskmaster must have the switch in her office. I could try again. I just need to get strong enough. Any day now. |
Quarry Closed | People kept dying so it seemed like a good idea to shut this place down. On the bright side, we don't have to worry about burying any of the bodies, and that's a huge plus since I was probably gonna be the one to have to do it. | ||
Ration or Hang | We've got a limited amount of supplies and weeks of work ahead. Anyone caught taking more than their share gets the noose. You've been warned. | ||
Reinforcing | I want the brick buildings on either side of the bridge reinforced. We don't know what kind of people we'll have coming through here, so we need to be prepared for the worst. Line the rooftops with sandbags and take half day shifts watching the roads to the east and west. | ||
Relocating | This location's been stripped clean. Pack up any remaining crates and move them closer to the new work site. We don't have a whole lot of manpower, so we need to keep the group together and take a little by little approach. It'll take some time, but we'll make our way around the entire park. | ||
REMINDER. | Our rides need ethanol more than your bodies need blood so don't think you can slack off here for even a second. It takes a lot of ethanol for us to cover the ground that we do. Every fucking drop counts. DON'T lose this place. |
Rescuer Note | Brian radioed in and said that he fell into a sinkhole at the top of the falls. He sounded hurt. We couldn't wait for you, so a bunch of us went in ahead. Follow our trail and grapple up the cliffs. The caves around here get flooded easily, so you'll probably have to swim. Get in and hurry. Brian's counting on us to reach him as fast as we can. |
Rescuer Note | Looks like a sinkhole's claimed other unlucky cars over the years. We managed to release the brakes on some of them to move them into a position where we could jump to the next cave. Brian's gone radio silent. I hope we're not too late. |
Resignation | Thomas, This is the hardest thing I've ever had to write, but here it is. After the Hope County job, I'm out. That girl traveled for months on foot just to find help. She told us her home is a warzone and could barely describe the horrors she'd seen. I think you're too blinded by your ambition to see the danger we're heading towards. You saved my life, and I'll always be grateful for our time together. I'm sorry if I'm a disappointment. Yours, Garrett Barnes |
Resistance Note | It's so fucking dark and cold. I'd kill to see the sun again. I used to have a good job. A family. I joined the Resistance to save it. And look where I ended up. I fought Joseph Seed for nothing. Maybe this is what I deserve. |
Roger's Note | Where to find rare materials: For the basics, we do okay. Hope County has a lot of crafting materials. But there's some rare, quality stuff that's getting harder and harder to find. I'm working to track down more reliable sources of carbon fiber, titanium, and circuit boards. I know the Highwaymen hoard some in their stronger outposts. I know they scavenge these materials in strongholds around the country. And I'm sure that if I poked around closer to home, I'd find a few things locked away in safes. Still, without these three materials, we won't be able to max out our potential here. Even if I found some, I'd need a partner to acquire it. |
Rotation List | James: Package Russell: Guard Post A Marri: Guard Post B Olivia: Guard Post C Evelyn: Guard Post D Chris: Toilets |
Rules of the Game | I flip cards for the four of us. Every round we go without seeing an ace, we chug a bottle. Joker card ends your game. First person dealt a joker card has to figure out what's wrong with the alarm system. Second person dealt a joker card works the mine for the day. Whoever's left gets off scott free with a nice buzz. Let's play! | ||
Rush's journal | Our settlements up the west coast are doing well, and I'm comforted knowing Mila's in good hands with her aunt and uncle. Once we help Carmina set up Prosperity in Hope County, then we'll get a foothold to expand east, to the rest of the country. Then the next great step can get under way. I'm going to build a new America. But first we have to hold up our end of the deal and chase away these so-called Highwaymen. One step at a time, I guess. |
Safe Code | The code for the safe is 32-46-Go fuck yourself. It stays shut. You got something of value, you bring it to me. I'll take care of putting it in the safe. - Trixy |
Saw Launcher | Gave the Saw Launcher another try. Could always use some tweaks here and there, but so far, I'm pretty pleased. The charge up time is short and the saws come out fast. Most of all, it's hard to miss with this thing, and that suits these old eyes just fine. |
Scores | Tammy: 8 Jeff: 6 Zeke: 17 Eva: 2 | ||
Scribbled Page | Jesus SHIT I came back here to remember the good times and there was a fucking skunk in the rooms. A SKUNK! It got me right in the face, but I think I locked it in. Hope it starves if I did. And fuck, I lost the key somewhere with all the flailing around. There goes any chance of me picking through this place. |
Search Every Nook and Cranny | These valley losers love hiding crap in random places so bust everything up case we got some stashes here. You see any loose planks laid out all nice, wreck that shit. Chances are it's hiding something. |
Security Note | Got my doubts about this mission. I know we're supposed to help people. I know that. But the stories I keep hearing about these Highwaymen... Our team's never faced anything like that before. I look at the others and I see it in their eyes, too. But, at the end of the day, the people in Hope County are suffering. They need our help. Thomas Rush believes we can do this, and so does the Captain. We have to believe it too. | ||
Security Note | I don't know what to think about these Highwaymen. I know they've got Esme spooked, because of the fact that Carmina traveled alone and on foot for weeks just to find help. Like it was on her agenda to make sure we're prepared. Esme says she sees nothing but red flags here. But, I mean, they're bandits. We've dealt with bandits before. How bad could it be? | ||
Security Note | That's just the way it is. We've been up and down the west coast building settlements, each more dangerous than the last. It's the price we pay to build a better world. One step at a time, just like Rush says. | ||
Seeking the Father | I left a church and came back to find a ruin. But I know the family survives somewhere. If you read this, I've gone south. I'm looking for the Father. Ethan is still alive but I'm getting sicker. I think it's radiation, I don't know. Please come find us. He's only a boy. Megan |
Selene's Fugue State | K this time, this time? I was in the middle of a freakin' shoot out. I don't know man, I got caught between some losers and the people they were trying to kill and as I was wrapping up this person's leg gouge I just. Checked the fuck out. Woke up with a bunch of jerky wrapped in a thank you note, in the middle of a forest that I knew for damn sure didn't used to be there. So like we can draw a hypothesis or two from this shit, right? A) I can still do the meds magic when I'm checked the fuck out. And two, no one gives a shit I didn't finish my medical degree. Heh, dope. |
Settler Journal | Some say Hope County's doing so well because the mountains sheltered it from the blast. Others say it's because of how the wind was blowing that day. Whatever it is, things seem to grow at a miraculous pace out there. Unfortunately, that also explains why it's such a highly contested area. These Highwaymen aren't going to go away easily, and to be completely honest, I don't know if we're cut out to deal with that kind of trouble. Our security team is incredible and the Captain's as fearless as they come, but sometimes it just comes down to sheer muscle. Do we have enough of it? I sure hope so. | ||
Settler Note | I gotta say, this woman, Carmina, she's leaving an impression on this whole train. Everybody's talking about her. How they want to help, despite how difficult that might be. It's nice to see empathy still exists. | ||
Sharky's Journal | DAY 5: I'm gonna keep a journal. Not because I'm a nerd or anything. I just figure somebody should write something down, just incase people are still alive. So I'm gonna write something everyday. DAY 35: Shit. I've totally been forgetting to write. Been partying hard in the bunker. Hurk used this as a clubhouse back in the day so it's stocked with party liquor, sticky green, and VHS porno tapes. So far the apocalypse has been pretty chill. DAY 38: Just caught saw some of Auntie's side boob. So that's pretty cool. DAY 48: Auntie Addie is making sex moans really loud to piss off senior. It would be cool, but i have to sleep nuts to butts with Hurk and I'm not trying to get a hard on right now. DAY 51: Hurk's dad is such an asshole. He's always complaining about us partying. Fucking everybody else is having a good time but that puss hole is always complaining. You would think hot boxing would mellow him out but no. DAY 53: Auntie Addie and Senior will not stop arguing. You'd think they were still married. Hurk always tries to break up the fight by putting on a talent show. DAY 94: I don't know if it's the pills we found in the cushion or not, but I'm coming around on Xander. He's actually alright. He's still a beta cuck, but I'm happy for him and Auntie. DAY 107: Oh shit! Found my furry suit. Weird wearing this thing without yiffing. DAY 212: Ran out of party liquor. Also just learned pee will not get you drunk. DAY 230: California sober does not suit Hurk. He's getting all in feelings about his father. He finalized that his dad is fucking dick who left him for dead. DAY 268: Gotta do something to help out Hurk. I've never seen him so depressed. He's real worried about becoming his old man. DAY 279: I got it. Gonna try and make some toilet wine, like they made in prison. If i remember correctly it's just fruit cocktail and bread. DAY 415: Outta of weed. Things are getting pretty dark. DAY 473: I did it! I made toilet wine. I was forgetting to add sugar. Thank fucking god Hurk is back to normal. I was right the cure for depression is totally getting shithoused drunk. DAY 636: Senior is losing his mind. He thinks we're secretly plotting against him. I don't know where he's getting the secret part from. We're standing right next to him when we talk about killing him. DAY 820: Good news. Senior just left the bunker. He said he'd rather take his chances with radiation than spend one more second with us. DAY 1095: It's been 3 years. Food ran out a few days ago. We're not sure if it's safe yet, but we're gonna chance it. Auntie Addie and Xander are taking the helicopter. They're gonna try and find that sex resort island near Cuba. Hurky and I are gonna go full Mad Max warlord. Our new names are Lord Hurkmungus and Sharksidous Erectus. Oh, what a lovely day! |
Sharky's Shopping List | Tell Hurk to gather the following supplies: - Cloth for diapers. Make sure it's higher than 600 thread count. Blade gets cranky otherwise. - Soap - Butter - Parts for tiny flame thrower. - Pork Belly - Jerky - Eggs - 5 pounds of salt. My feet are sore. - 10 ft metal chain so I can secure gimp to car. - A gimp. - Titty milk for Blade. - Titty milk for me. |
Shipping Instructions | You guys need to start using your fucking heads and stop loading the boats with more weight than they can handle. It's three times now we've have had to dump gear into the water so we don't sink on the way to the city. If it happens again, it won't be the gear we toss, it'll be one of you. | ||
Slime Monster | I saw something in the water. Like...big...and scaly. And kinda slimy. Nate says it's a gator. I say it's Nessie. | ||
Snakebit | Just took another look at the wound and the venom's crept all the way up my leg. I figure I've got a day, two at the most. I'm more mad than anything, really. Partly at the snake, partly at myself for being so careless. But I'll make peace with myself before I go. As for the snake, I don't think I'll get the chance. If you're reading this, kill that fucker for me. I'll set you up good when we meet on the other side. - Joe |
Space Station | Heard from Eric that another Highwaymen unit found some huge space station wreck. I know we've got our hands full here, but we need to at least consider sending a team to check it out. If we're going to overthrow the Twins one day, it'll be on the wings of the resources we gather, and that wreck's gotta have some unique shit. | ||
Squatter Journal | God, this is no good. I don't know what happened but the machine upstairs suddenly went nuts and now I can't leave this bunker without frying alive. The one time I did poke my head up I saw Highwaymen all over the place. Makes me worried sick for my pal up top, but hell if I'm letting those murderers know I'm stuck here. Fuck my life. Fuck my whole life. I never shoulda trusted Parker's stuff. |
Squatter Journal | My buddy and I came here hoping Larry left behind some mad science shit but then the Highwaymen showed up and I had to hide. I thought maybe pulling the switch in the back would do something to scare them off but all it did was make them mad. Now I'm stuck hoping they don't realize I'm here. God damn it Larry Parker. What kind of useless machine did you build out there? |
Storage Lockers | Once Dani welds a door on this cage, we'll use this area to store our supplies. You dig up anything special, put it in the safe nextdoor. | ||
Survivor Journal | Aw shit, I thought I was bein' smart hiding my stuff in that shed but then a dust storm came and buried the whole dang thing. How the heck am I gonna get to my stash now? All I can see of the place is the darn roof. |
Survivor Journal | DUCT TAPE! I can't believe I forgot duct tape. No stash in the world is complete without duct tape! I gotta find all the rolls I can and chuck 'em in the barn with my other stuff. I'm gonna be the stickiest man in the county! |
Survivor Journal | Everyone said we were crazy buildin' ourselves a whole new house but I sure don't have no regrets. The crap years of the Collapse are behind us. We got the food and the time to really rebuild. Way I see it, if you don't got a place to call your own, you ain't really livin'. |
Survivor Journal | FUCK my arms hurt hauling all this stuff here but once I get this into the shed my stash is done. Just gotta move the boards so I can shove these bags in. Hope the Highwaymen don't catch me while I'm at it. |
Survivor Journal | Ha! Those Highwaymen are going nuts trying to get in my attic. They keep trying to break in through the windows. I wonder when they'll figure out you get in from inside the house. Probably never. God, it's hilarious. |
Survivor Journal | Ha, the Highwaymen will never find my stuff under this ramp! They'll be so excited to find all the crap I left in the house they'll never think to look here! I'm a genius! |
Survivor Journal | I don't know what we'll do if this place falls apart for good. We can all guess how this stuff works and make minor repairs, but building up radio from scratch? Ain't found anyone who's got the knowhow. It's not like we can just look it up either. Not anymore. Just gotta hope someone somewhere memorized a library. |
Survivor Journal | I'm so proud of this set-up. It looks just like home before the Collapse. Makes me feel all snug inside. I've been wanting to build a room like this ever since things started picking up in the valley. And now I've done it. Take THAT, apocalypse. |
Survivor Journal | I've been working the dirt here ever since it was a blasted-out plot and damn am I proud of what we've made of it. This right here's the fruit of our labors. Food raised up with love and sweat, the way it should be. Looking round here, I feel like we've left the Collapse behind. It's all full bellies and good times from here on out. |
Survivor Journal | Lord did food get ugly after the Collapse. Every damn plant on this planet went bright and warty and it all tasted like Satan's piss. At least now I can eat anything after years of that crap. And these days Mother Nature's calmed down with the freaky shit. |
Survivor Journal | Surprise surprise, Joseph's people are up to crazy shit again. This time it's burning all the modern crap they find. Hell, I saw a bunch of them chucking a stove into that giant fire of theirs saying the machine was full of sin. Well they're not getting my goods. I'm locking them up good and tight. And I'll hide the key in the bathroom - bet the cult's scared of toilets. |
Survivor Journal | The radios here still work if we give 'em a kick. Their range ain't great, though. And half the time it's like they run on spit and prayers. Lila says probably there are still some satellites left spinning up in space, and that's why we still get signals. She didn't say anything about what'll happen when all the satellites come down. But I can guess. Radio silence. |
Survivor Journal | These Highwaymen just don't stop. They're spreading all over the valley and looting everything in sight. I've been running from them for weeks. I've slept in every abandoned wreck. If things don't ease up I'm gonna die of a heart attack. I have to get out of this valley. |
Survivor Journal | Those damn Highwaymen took everything I had. Just rolled up and shot me out of my own fucking garden. Now I'm stuck living off whatever trash I can find. At least there's a bunker nearby I can duck into when it gets cold. |
Survivor Journal | We found more supplies here than we could carry so I set up a zipline to help get them down the hill. Once that's done we can carry them by hand to wherever Pa says we should go. Hope he makes a decision soon. I don't like the thought of all that stuff sitting in the open. |
Survivor Journal | You know, as bad as the Collapse has been we still get killer sunsets in Hope County. All I have to do to take a break from this place is plop down on the old bull's head with some tunes. You can't see the whole county from up there, but you can see a good bit. It's not all bad. It's certainly been worse. |
Survivor Note | Hey sis, Can you help me find the key to this thing? It was in my back pocket but I took a tumble setting up the zipline and ripped the hell out of my pants on that tree. |
Survivor Note | Honey, Could you or one of the children search through the old house? I think I might've dropped the key there while hiding supplies. |
Survivor Note | I knew I should've cut off my finger. Scraped it real bad on the wood while I was boarding up my stuff and now my hand's all hurting and puffy. Maybe I can find someone around here who'll chop it off, but everyone keeps running away from the smell. I don't know what to do. |
Survivor Note | I'm sick of being HUNGRY all the time. I'm sick of being out here alone. Nothing we do means anything anymore...but the Highwaymen don't seem to mind. I wonder what it'll take to make them let me join? Do I have to know someone? Kill someone? Sleep with someone? I always hear noise coming from that thing they built on the old trailer park. Maybe it's a proving ground. I can throw a good punch or two. Hell, it's worth a shot. Anything's better than this. |
Survivor Note | It's hard surviving out here. Harder if you've got kids. I counted myself blessed when we all got to shelter in time, but... Then the sky went dark. Nothing grew. I lost my youngest to hunger, and sickness took the rest. I'd scrape together a plot like the other survivors now if I could, but my heart's too broken for it. All I can do is leave. |
Survivor Note | I've watched Highwaymen gamble here with all comers. Each other, mostly, but some local fools too. Listen, they do not play fair. I've seen them gamble with people like dogs, dogs like objects, and I've seen them flat out kill over a bad dice roll. From what I can tell their leaders enforce some rules code they hint at sometimes, but it excludes a whole lot of terrible things. Don't go playing with them just because they're smiling at you under those helmets. You WILL get hurt. |
Survivor Note | Liv, I can't wait any longer. There's no Resistance to save us this time. We need to run before Mickey and Lou destroy everything. Word is the Carmina kid left to get help. That means there's still a way out of the county. I stashed a couple things up and around the barn for you. Hope you make it. Rita |
Survivor Note | Pastor Jerome, I'm hearing more rumors about a group out west, led by some guy called "Rush." It sounds like he's built up a bunch of settlements up the coast. More than that, he's headed our way. Once we get Prosperity up and running, maybe we should reach out. We could always use more expertise and he might be able to help us with our Highwaymen problem. Trisha |
Survivor Note | Pastor Jerome, I'm so grateful to you and Grace for taking charge of this. I hope this works out and we get the supplies we need. I sure as shit am not going to ask Joseph's people for help, and I'd rather not send any of us outside of Hope County just yet. But even with these supplies, we may not have a choice. We just don't have enough to take on the Highwaymen right now. Kim |
Survivor Note | Ramone, We've got to get people to band together. No one trusts each other enough to fight the Highwaymen the way my friends and I did to fight the Peggies. Everybody goes to sleep at night thinking their neighbors'll rob them, because when the Collapse came, that's what happened. It's going to be difficult to build a resistance with that. Jerome |
Survivor Note | Shit, I got no love for the Highwaymen but their lives are damn sweet next to mine. They've got enough electricity to waste it on music, for Chrissakes. It's like they piss fuel and crap generators. At this point I might just sign on. I'm sick of scavenging. |
Survivor Note | Sweetie, I know the Highwaymen are practically a stone's throw away but I don't think they're going to come after us here. They're way too busy beating each other up in that fighting pit of theirs, and if they haven't tried grabbing this place by now for the gardens I don't think they ever will. That being said, I'll head out to Prosperity and see if they've got any spare guns. Never hurts to be prepared. |
Survivor Note | Turns out the bridge couldn't hold the train. Jerome barely got out alive, and we lost at least a year's worth of supplies. I don't think we can build much of Prosperity now without help from the outside. Still, first chance we get, someone with a grappling hook should head up into this mess and salvage what they can. Might as well make the best of this. Grace |
Survivor Notice | If anybody comes by needing water for anything, let them have it, and as much as they need. And I MEAN anybody. Doesn't matter if it's one of ours or Joseph's people. Lord knows we've all been through enough and it'd be damn cruel to turn folk away. |
Taskmaster's Prison Manifest | New factory scabs this month Fartnugget - farts when nervous, so, like, all the fucking time. Chodesplicer - doesn't like getting kicked in the chode Dumbass - like a fucking brick, this guy Dickwafer - he's got a wafer dick, obviously Chattersnatch - teeth click together all the time. they'll grind down eventually Chudwaffle - dumb face, weird body...just a "chudwaffle" all over The rest ate the fucking dirt before they got names. Gonna need to take more soon - but I'm coming with next time, you guys bring back the weediest scabs. |
Tattered Survivor Journal | As long as the weather's good I'll sleep outside. Never liked being indoors. I guess I could clean up the nearby bunker and make it mine, but after walking this far down from Vancouver I kind of just want to keep going. Could be that good old wanderlust. Could be the masked murderers running around. |
Tattered Survivor Journal | Give the people three years of a regular rainy season and they'll just forget we had a decade of drought, I guess. Me, I'm putting my brains to work. Gotta figure out how to move water where we want it when we want it or the next dry spell's gonna fuck us all up. |
Test Drive | All this military grade stuff is providing a crazy boost to our cars. Sam's times around the track have only been getting better and better. Don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but we're going to blow away the competition at the next derby race up in Hope County. Mickey and Lou's jaws will drop to the fucking floor. | ||
The Derby | You think you're a big fucking deal? SHOW US. Drive in the Derby - once a year, every year, wherever the fuck we roam. If you can show us how you drive and shoot, you'll find yourself sitting alongside us, up at the top of the food chain. Winners get it all: better gear, better jobs, better life. Losers get left in the mud to get eaten by vermin. Show me what you got. Mickey |
The Flame Prayer | In case you can't remember it yet, sister: The Father placed the kindling And then God sparked the flame We burn away the sinful things So Collapse won't come again Amen |
The Good Life | Night shift ain't so bad. Just me, my bottle of whisky, and a great view. Hell I can even fall asleep on the job if I want to. Nobody's dumb enough to come mess with us here. | ||
The Highwaymen | A group of marauders with different chapters all over the country. They're vicious and armed to the teeth, and they blast music you can hear for miles. The chapter in Hope County is led by twin sisters: Mickey and Lou. Between Mickey's cunning and Lou's brutality they've managed to overwhelm everyone here in short order. They've forced New Eden back into their compound, and if we don't figure out something soon they'll kill us all. |
The Highwaymen Are Coming! | Tammy saw something like thirty or fourty of them headed this way. And Carlos -- Carlos wants us to take them on?! We're twelve strong with peashooters and a few rifles. They've got beefed up cars and a whole fucking arsenal. This isn't going to end well. | ||
The Judge's Words | A newcomer is here now. It's just like the Father said it would be. He is right, always right. They will pass the test. I cannot speak to them. I will not speak to them. I made a promise for my own good. It is not my place. The deputy died in that bunker and now I am Joseph's Judge only, Joseph's only Judge. God release me from the Pride of judging others, God release me from the memories of judgment Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. |
The Prisoner Run | If you disrespect us you're not long for this world...but we're forgiving. We understand it's rough out here. If you think you deserve a second chance, you can drive the Prisoner Run. You survive and all's forgiven! Debts repaid - you'll be welcomed back with open arms. You don't make it and well, maybe you shouldn't have been such a useless fucking scab in the first place. Lou |
The Spot | This building's taken the least beating and it's far enough from the main road that it's out of harm's way. Store any valuables you find in here. | ||
The Swamps | Gator jumped out of the water and took Arnie's arm clean off. Had to put him down. Arnie, not the gator. Let this serve as a reminder to the rest of you that although we've reinforced this spot, we can't be careless. Things go bump in the night around here. Be vigilant, keep focused, and stay away from the damn swamps. | ||
The Toll | This is the only bridge that connects these canyons for miles. You want to cross? You gotta pay up. Nothing's free in this world, not so long as we're still around and all these drifters are gonna understand that. | ||
The Train Guy | Mickey and Lou keep talking about how this guy's gonna solve our problems. True enough, the mine isn't producing as much as we want it to but shit, if I had it my way I'd have put a bullet in this motherfucker already. Twice now he's tried to escape. We gotta watch him like a hawk 24/7. It's annoying. Twins said keep him alive but they never said anything about keeping him upright. Maybe we'll have a little fun. |
The Vault | Kobin, Left you a present in the vault. I won’t need it where I’m heading. Charlie managed to reroute the S.M.I.'s controls to a laptop. That should let you access it. Good luck. -SF |
The Word | Beyond the walls of Eden's Gate a once mighty nation is choking on its own bravado. The Elite bellow and pound their chests: Behold our wealth! Tremble before our power! Gasp in awe at our knowledge! And I gasp. But not in awe. In shame... for their knowledge spreads only cancerous propaganda designed to keep us in a state of perpetual fear. I tremble. But not in admiration. In sorrow... for the hate that fuels their hideous agenda. And in their glittering vaults of endless accumulation I behold... only the soullessness of craven materialism. | ||
The Word | Have we used our hands for good? Have we extended them in peace? Have we ended starvation, poverty, disease? No. We have taken that which is exquisite and wasted it in pursuit of the banal. Our short lives pass, devoid of meaning. Even worse, we debase these precious gifts, by clenching our hands into fists. We make war when we could be holding one another. Comforting our brethren. Building a society that will nourish every body and lift every soul. | ||
The Word | I have survived and they no longer have any power over me. And now I bask in the peace of God's unconditional love, shielded by the serene companionship of You my Family. And I now know what it means to be fully and trully accepted. By You my Family. | ||
Things Are Gonna Change | I think its finally time to flex our muscles at the next derby dinner. We want a bigger piece of the gang, and we deserve one. And if Mickey and Lou have a problem with that, well, it might turn into one noisy get together. | ||
This Place Rocks | Jamie was right. All we had to do was wait until all the flooding went away. Water levels went back to normal and took all the goopy bad shit with it. Now it's our time to shine. Woo! | ||
This Way Up | These stairs go all the way up to the second deck. Follow the walkway and you'll reach the captain's cabin. | ||
To Whoever Finds This | When I was a child, this hunk of metal was my very favorite ride. As the son of people who owned and operated this place, no level of joy outside these walls could ever match the joy within. These rides became my friends. They comforted me then... And they comfort me now in my dying hour. It's touching to see how this one has endured. As if it waited for me to return. Well, old friend, here I am, and here I die. | ||
Tracey's Travels | Even before I got out, I knew this guy was a piece of work. Didn't see him much at first, since Rachel and I just stuck together, but I still never did trust him. I trusted a lot of people I shouldn't have. But at least I was spared trusting John Seed. Dude cared a lot about his house for someone convinced the world was going to end. Only wish he could have lived to see what the Rye family did with the place. |
Tracey's Travels | I can remember exactly how it felt. The peace in my heart when I saw this place for the first time. So simple and small and perfect. Joseph said he was going to change my life. He was right about that. On the bad days, the really bad days, I wish I was that ignorant and blissful again. I came back here after the Collapse. I think I thought it would make me smile to see this place gutted, despite everything being blown to hell with it. [PAGEBREAK]But that fucking psychopath survived. Joseph, from the thick of it, got to live. He must have crawled his crazy ass out of his bunker, because I saw him -- I hid -- and I saw him talking to people about "building something new." And I saw what he did to the Deputy. I have to remember: one day this place will crumble to dust and no one will remember what they did to us all. |
Tracey's Travels | I'm leaving. I'm gonna try. The world's been chewing me and swallowing me and spitting me out in a cycle like cud my whole life. It can't do any worse to me now. People in Prosperity keep saying to me "there's nowhere to go but up", but there always seems to be a few more stairs to get pushed down. But this is it. The Collapse came, and it was the great equalizer. Now everyone's been shit on as much as I have - everyone's been pushed and we're all at the bottom of the stairs. So I'm not going to die here. I'm gonna climb my ass back up and leave everyone else lying on the last step. I can decide now, to live how I always wanted to. Alone. Blissfully, alone. |
Tracey's Travels | In the early days I thought I'd grown past everyone. At least at first. I'd been with the cult for a few weeks until one day I saw Nick and Kim around Hope County. The way they looked at me. Like my dog had just died or something. Kind. But with so much pity. Thought I'd found a place I belong with the cult...and the Ryes were the first to make me think again. After they came out of their bunkers, they tried to settle into their house again. Pretty dumb, in my opinion. Can't expect your house to be in good shape 10 years and a thousand bombs down the line. Guess they wanted to raise Carmina in relative peace and quiet. The Twins made sure that couldn't happen when they took Nick and chased them into the wilderness. They didn't deserve that, but I'm not sure what anyone deserves anymore really. |
Tracey's Travels | In the first few years after the Collapse it was cold as shit with all the ash in the air. The sun couldn't get through to heat us up so we were all just starving and freezing to death. Everyone crowded around this spring like it was the water Jesus walked on. But no one fought here. No one begged or threatened. We just sat here and warmed up, and took our chances with drinking the water. So much of the county is unrecognizable now, I sometimes get lost. But the springs stayed the same, stayed hot, got us through the worst of it. It's a relief, knowing the Earth's not dead all the way through. |
Tracey's Travels | Seeing this place after the collapse was the hardest. All that ...life! All that food and greenery. All the natural ability of the Earth to feed us just snuffed out. Taken for granted so bad that there was no coming back. If these apple trees will never feel another summer, how are we supposed to? I can't even picture anything growing here again. All I see is ashes and dust. |
Tracey's Travels | This town's like a shitty parent. Never was the nicest to you, but you always got a soft spot for 'em. Fall's End looked after everyone, every single person...except me. Virgil tried at least, and I'll always love him a bit for that. Grinning idiot. Glad he didn't live to see the town like this. Mary May did though. She never even went underground. She worked so hard, maybe even to death, to keep this place going. Not like it worked. She probably had too much radiation in her by the end, but I think she died of a broken heart. |
Tracey's Travels | Thought about hiking out of here. The prison shielded us all from the worst of the bombs, but it wasn't exactly liveable. Figured I'd follow the train tracks leading east and see what I'd find. Here's about as far as I got. I looked around and all I saw was a wasteland. Bleakness. But right as I was about to decide to keep walking away, my imagination kicked in. I got the crazy idea that things would come alive again here. That maybe if I stayed, and I didn't give up on the place, Hope County could grow into a world that would have me. Probably stupid. But hey, I'm still here. |
Tracey's Travels | Thought there'd be some food left in here - there was, a bit. Turns out even the rats took a hit to their population, so I got a fighting chance to eat. I even found a few other scavengers, little kids. Thought about taking my food and running, but I thought about...ugh, so stupid... I thought about Virgil for no reason and I decided to stay and share some of my food. They didn't stay with me. Didn't trust me enough. And hell, I get that. I like to think they're still alive somewhere. Because of me. |
Use The Safe | If it's shiny, it's probably valuable. Put it in the safe, and don't forget to lock it. Morons. | ||
VIP Dinner | Get some pigs. Like, the big hairy ones that fuck shit up all the time, kill some of those. It's not a bunch of vegans here, you know, load up that table with booze and protein. If the Twins or their lieutenants see any miserable sulking vegetables it's literally not my fault what happens to you, ok thudfuck? Just remember that. They all get together like this once a year and they party hardy and someone always fucking kicks it but I swear to your god, it's not gonna be me for putting some lame-ass baby carrots out for a feast. |
Wade's Journal | I was digging round the church the other day and found some kinda crypt under the building. Well whaddya know! Place looked perfect for my supplies, so I moved everything in pretty as you please, then gave the key to the new bear I trained. He runs up every time I sound the signal, just like we practiced. Ain't been locked out once. |
Wade's Journal | Things are looking up, yes sir. Nailed up the new FANG center sign outside and put out the word I can help our critters live a little longer. The bear, though. Something hinky's up with that bear. He keeps giving me funny looks and smacking his chops. If I didn't know better, I'd say he looks hungry. Sure don't like where any of this is going. |
Wade's Notes | Looks like all that training finally paid off! Hit that bell however you please and the bear comes a'running after a few rings. He's always snapping at me though. Makes me miss Cheeseburger something awful. I ain't never met anything with a temper this foul. He reminds me of the time I found Sharky in his furry suit. Maybe giving him my key was a mistake. |
War Journal | For the last few years, i’ve been told that I’m a dinosaur from a different era. That the politicians don’t have the stomach for wars fought in shadows anymore. That there is no place for an old man like me, but they don’t understand an, old man with a gun, isn’t a dinosaur. He’s a survivor. He improvises, adapts, and overcomes. He doesn’t quit when the cards are stacked against him. He keeps going. I’ll keep going. And when i take a look around at the world right now it’s clear the world needs survivors. - SF |
War Journal: Better Angels | It’s been a week. Riots have broken out in every major city that has survived the initial attacks. Yet here in, rural Ohio, I still see people listening to their better angels and helping one another. Maybe mankind still has a chance. -SF |
War Journal: Contact | Despite severe injury, our tech specialist Cole was able to patch us in with the Division team in Chicago. Michigan was not an isolated event. The first nuke hit Malmstrom AFB in Montana 3 days ago. For the next 24 hours every nuclear power in the world unleashed their arsenal. Korea, Israel and Pakistan have all been wiped off the map. Large chunks of China, Russia, the Middle East, Central Europe and the US are gone. The greatest fear of the atomic age has come to pass. -SF |
War Journal: Empty Quiver | Just updated the President. Latest intel has the empty quiver on US soil somewhere in Montana. We are en route and will have boots on the ground in 4 hours. An associate of mine is reaching out to old contacts who have had dealings with the local militia, however the news of the potential evacuation of D.C. has sent a lot of rats into hiding. -SF |

War Journal: New Missions | Chicago has fallen. Briggs and Grim both have family out that way and have volunteered to help. Kobin is going to stay here with Cole who is too injured to move. To think I once hated this man so much I thought death would be too good a punishment. Now I consider him a friend. I’m headed to an airstrip in Lima to see if i can secure transportation east to find my daughter. Nothing will stand in my way. -SF |

War Journal: Paladin down | The Paladin was brought down by a nuclear detonation in southern Michigan. Heavy Casualties. 4 dead. 3 injured. Not sure if this was the nuke we were chasing or something else. All communications are down. Going to look for shelter and wait for the fallout to pass. -SF |
War Journal: Sarah | I can't stop thinking about Sarah. If protocols are followed, D.C. is about to be evacuated. New York City will be next. I hope she's managed to get out by now. I have to trust that I raised her right. That she'll follow the nucflash protocol. If she did, she'll be in Vic’s bunker. Soon as things are settled here, that's where I'm headed. -SF |
War Journal: The Road Ahead | Getting to Sarah will be difficult. Finding reliable intel on what - if any - areas are safe for travel between here and Vic’s cabin has proven to be impossible. My training tells me to prepare for the fact that she might not have made it out of the city, but as her father, I have to believe she's out there. Surviving. Waiting for me. I will find her. -SF |
War Journal: Winter is Coming. | I need to find my team a permanent shelter. So I can move on, but Cole is still touch and go and most of the bunkers have been compromised by the attacks or what came after. Must continue to search. -SF |
Warden Frank's Note | I'm gonna kill it this year. I'll sit at the TABLE with the Twins. Not just get bossed like any other thudfuck. I got the best driving suit bullets can steal, I got my car maxed out - I'm ready to take that fucking Derby prize, or die, historically, on a super angry road. |
Warning Note | Alright, you Highwaymen lice. You want to break into this bunker so bad, have at it. Bunker's under the shed. Door's at the bottom of the ladder past the fish. Go on then. Come in. I dare you. |
Watch Tower | We're going to use this old office as a watch tower. Anyone comes down the eastern road, it's our job to send the alert. Once we're all in position, we'll wait for the sorry saps to cross onto the bridge and spring the trap. Easy money. | ||
We Don't Need The Key We'll Break In | Took awhile to bust into this basement, but it was worth it. There's tons of equipment down here that we can chip away at: Servers. TVs. Computers. We'll at least get some circuit boards and wiring out of 'em, and we can use the enclosed space to protect whatever else we find. | ||
Weapons Evaluation | Use this workbench to evaluate any weapons that come in. Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and fire. If they pass the test, box 'em up. If not, add them to the parts bin and we'll figure it out later. | ||
Wiki-Bean-ia Plan | 1. Gather knowledge! 2. Open cartography business! 3. Get robbed by naked coworker??? 4. Find someone stronger than me to do the dirty work! 5. Figure out what an "orgasm" is! |
Workbench Is Ready | Every single jet on this godforsaken ship is a dud. Rip them apart and bring the pieces here. We'll sift through them and take whatever's useful. I'm sure we can find something for our derby cars. | ||
Working Orders | Check this bulletin each morning before heading back out to the bridge. I'll update it with your assignments for the day. | ||
Wrapping It Up | It's starting to quiet down around here. We've picked at most everything we could in this area, so everyone's pretty much moved on. I'll pack up too and help out with one of the other work sites. There's so many. Damn space station crash landed all over the goddamn place. Shame about the chunk caught in those cliffs. We tried everything, but we just can't reach it. Can't have it all, I guess. | ||
Zip's last newsletter | Hello Freedom Fighters, For years I've warned you about the transdimensional vampire goblins and their secret globalist agenda. How they were behind 9/11 and the success of Ryan Reynolds. Their baby farms, gay frogs, and coded messages in Paw Patrol. They had control of our government, the media, and international ice dancing. Nothing was beyond their grasp. When I exposed this cabal I became powerful adversary. First they attempted to discredit me. Then they took away my social media, but a true red blooded American can never be stopped which why I now distribute my newsletters via pamphlets and scratched on stalls of truck stop bathrooms. [PAGEBREAK]However, I fear that the goblins will take more extreme measures to silence me. Either by nuclear war, or robot uprising lead by Elon Musk's driverless cars. If either has happened, you know every word I've ever told you is true. No matter how dark it has gotten, you must keep fighting for freedom. THESE DEMONS MUST NOT WIN!!!! PS If by chance the world has not ended you can purchase my supplement line and survival buckets (now 98% rat feces free) on my website. |
