Apocalypse Now[]
In the level Boat, after destroying the second tower, Jack jokingly remarks: "Oooh yeah! I love the smell of Primacord Plus in the morning! What's next?". This is an allusion to a famous line from the 1979 film Apocalypse Now: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." (see Boat dialog transcript 14.6)
Crying Orc[]
The song "Futuristic Poetry" by Crying Orc, also known by the name Technical Hitch, uses samples of the Far Cry score.
Playboy[]
The Playmerc magazine is a parody of the Playboy magazine.
The Island of Dr. Moreau[]
A memo of the Krieger Corporation found among Valerie's belongings in the level Carrier contains a reference to the 1896 novel by H.G Wells and its film adaptations on which Far Cry is said[1] to be based. It reads: "Tonight's movie will be 'Island of Dr. Moreau'".
