The Throwing Knife is a throwable weapon that appears in Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6.

The Throwing Knife is a silent weapon that can be a one-shot kill with a direct hit on the target. The crosshair for the knife is a very small dot, and accuracy is key when using this weapon. Throwing knives will also grant double skins off animals if they are successfully killed by one. It must be noted that while it is a one-hit kill against most enemies, armored enemy types like Royal Guard Defenders and Rocketeers will sometimes take up to three throwing knives to kill, making them a poor choice for taking down those types.

Similar to arrows, harpoons, and bolts, used throwing knives can sometimes be retrieved from the dead bodies.

Trivia[]

  • Far Cry 4 is the first game in the series to feature throwing knives as an active weapon. They were available in Far Cry 3 but only in a side activity and through the Knife Throw Takedown.
  • Throwing knives also appear in Far Cry Primal in the form of throwable Stone Shards.
  • In Far Cry 4, throwing knives have a small amount of "aim assist" added to them. At longer ranges, throwing knives will automatically gravitate towards enemies when they get close enough, allowing for easier kills. While accuracy is still needed, the effect becomes quite noticeable at longer ranges. Coupled with generous hitbox sizes on both the knife itself and enemies, they become easier to use at long range. At close range, the knives will not have this effect, though the player's aim assist slowdown will still aid in landing hits.
