"A Cultural Exchange" is the third story mission in Act Two and the ninth mission overall in Far Cry 4 given by Sabal.

Synopsis[]

A Cultural Exchange is a main mission given by Sabal. It is unlocked after completing the first Balance of Power mission: Rebel Yell or Hunt or Be Hunted. This mission will unlock Sermon on the Mount.

This is the first Bomb Defusing mission and could be considered as a tutorial for later Bomb Defusing quests.

Ajay Ghale meets Sabal at a house northeast of Khilana Bazaar. The reaction Ajay will get depends on which Balance of Power mission was completed. If Sabal's side was chosen, he will congratulate and thank Ajay for his efforts. If Amita's side was chosen, he will be mad at Ajay's decision. Either way, Sabal will send Ajay to the Chal Jama Monastery to meet Raju and to learn about the Kyrati religion.

Upon showing up, Raju will welcome him and send him to complete a few religious acts with items from the prayer basket. One of these includes spinning a mani wheel which will give some extra karma. Once the tasks have been completed, Ajay will be shown the death of a goat to keep the Kyrati demon Yalung sated. Ajay will now be able to leave but the mission is not over.

Gameplay[]

After you walk out the monastery doors, bells begin to ring as Royal Army drive up. You will have access to your weapons once the battle begins and it will be on you to protect the 3 main areas; the weapons cache(Armory), the statue, and the front doors. Several waves of enemies will charge forward with assaulters and berserkers coming in from both roads leading up to the monastery in technicals, some Golden Path soldiers will also be present while a few will begin planting bombs on either of the 3 areas mentioned, you have a timer of 80s for each bomb planted. Just get fighting; eventually the army will stop pushing forward and you will be thanked by Raju for your help. The mission will end and you will unlock both a new shipment of weapons and some side quests at the small town of Tirtha.

Trivia[]

  • After completion of this mission, the town Tirtha will unlock. This is also the only safehouse unlocking mission that doesn't take place at the safehouse.
  • This is the only time where the monastery doors are open and the inside section is accessible, after the mission you will still be able to visit the area and there will be Royal Army technicals parked around.
