Frigates are civilian cargo ships, repurposed by the FND as blockade ships. They are stationary objects and are the largest asset in the FNDs arsenal.
Origins[]
As Yara is cut off from the rest of the world and does not posses any major shipyards, the FND had to improvise and refitted some old civilian cargo ships with turrets and HMGs to act as blockade ships, enforcing Castillos blockade over Isla Santuario and other parts of Yara.
Armament[]
Every Frigate is armed with 2 1944 Petrov HS-100 turrets, one at the front and one at the back, each supported by several Mounted Heavy Machine Guns, there is also a couple of missile pods at port and starboard of the ship which seem to be based of the soviet P-15 termite. Of course the crew, consisting of around 15-20 personell are also armed. Appearantly Frigates are able to lay sea mines, as there are always some nearby.
Trivia[]
- Frigates are the largest military-grade vehicle in any Far Cry game
- The classification "Frigate" is very misleading, as these ships would rather be oversized minelayers than actual Frigates. However, Cuba does operate several armed trawlers classified as frigates.
