Background[]
Gabriel Castillo was the former President of Yara from 1957 to 1967. He was considered by his son, Antón to be a visionary who turned Yara into a paradise that brought in people from across the world. He was eventually deposed and killed during the Revolution of 1967 by Santos Espinosa who, according to Gabriel's son, gave the country away to ideologists and parasites.[1] Gabriel was executed right in front of Antón. The nation would fall into economic turmoil for decades to come. Antón would be deeply impacted by his father and would be elected the new president of Yara several decades later.[2]
He is the husband of Yolanda Rodriguez, the father of Antón Castillo and grandfather of Diego and José Castillo. María Marquessa is the secret mother of Diego Castillo, making him the father-in-law of María.
