General Mariano was a General of the FND. Prior to the Battle of Esperanza, he appeared in a meeting with Anton Castillo, Diego and an architect. Mariano was very worried about Anton Castillo's safety, and recommended evacuating the capital via boat. Anton Castillo, however, ordered Mariano to stop speaking.
