Walktrough[]
The mission starts immediately after the conclusion of Eden's Fire by talking to the Band of Chosen's leader. Upon arriving again in New Eden the inhabitants celebrate euphorically and demand that Ethan Seed sends The Security Captain to find Joseph Seed. Ethan plays his part convincingly and prepares "The Sacrament" - a drink which reduces the North's damaging effect. While administering it he reminds you about the deal: he needs proof of Joseph's death, so the New Edeners accept him as their prophet and then will send help against the Highwaymen.
As the drink makes you pass out, you awake later in The Old Compound with The Judge and Ethan present. He explains, that the North is still deadly and lighting the signal fires dispels this effect. They provide a bow with incendiary arrows. Take it or bring other weapons with incendiary effects. The arrows light the beacons faster and more reliable though. Afterwards enter the boat and journey along the river towards the North. When crossing the shroud of Bliss the world turns into a dark-pinkish shade and the time is frozen at 11 o'clock pm. Even when in photo mode and modifying the time of the day, the world still remains pinkish until the end of the journey. Stay in the boat in the cover of the signal fires. If you stray too far from the river, death certainly finds you. Either in the form of wild animals like wolves (all of which wear the same collar as former Judges), moose, demon fish, rattlesnakes, cougars or simply by breathing to much Bliss-saturated air.
Reach the South New Eden Gate and look for the unlit fire beacon. The Bliss slowly damages you until the fire is lit. A small cloud of pink flakes indicates this damaging effect. Leave the boat and get on the other side of the gate. There is a giant waterwheel which is activated by pulling its lever. This opens the gate to let the boat pass.
On the way forward you will have several sections in which the air is poisonous until a beacon is lit. Look for them and shoot them with incendiary ammo or arrows. Along the way are several curious points. Next to the river is a camp with moose and a campfire, which doesn't dispel the Bliss and you are damaged nonetheless. There is also a dock with a note of sinful thoughts and an abandoned hut which is occupied by wolves.
When reaching the North New Eden Gate leave the boat and walk or climb the trail upwards. There is an unlit beacon and another pack of wolves. If they are too much of a challenge climb on the roof of the nearby hut. From here they are sitting ducks and can't attack you. Cross the gate and activate another waterwheels lever. This wheel is blocked by brambles in the water though. Destroy them with your weapons and the gate opens.
The last section of the journey shows you the head of a statue and a half-sunken dredge, which is inaccessible due to Bliss-infestation. The Bliss-saturation rises steadily and the fires are barely able to negate its effect. Go further north until you reach the remnants of the McKinley Dam. Light the beacon on the western side and the world suddenly turns normal. This ends the mission and the whole North is now accessible for unimpeded exploration. Knock at the sanctuary's door to start the next mission Joseph's Secret.
