José Castillo is an antagonist of Far Cry 6.

Biography[]

General José Castillo is the nephew of Antón Castillo and is a commander of his army, especially the air force of Yaran military, the Fuerzas de Defensa Aereas. Castillo Special Forces have Fuerzas de Defensa Aereas emblem on their armbands, so they are supposedly serving under his command, namely the FND Special Forces Snipers, RPG-7 assaulters, RPD flamers, as well as Andrés Caballero and Nicolás Najarro.

As Castillo regime seek to profit from Viviro that supposedly can slow down cancer, they bring back slavery in Yara while hypocritically spraying the cancer-causing PG-240 on both slaves and Yaran civilians, José is in charge of both as he is known by the people as a slave driver who controls the poison.[1]

María Marquessa is the secret mother of Diego Castillo, his cousin, making José her secret nephew-in-law.

If Dani Rojas stays with Libertad, Castillo regime would rapidly collapse within the later half of 2021.

During the revolution, as Carlos Montero was dying from cancer, he spent the final moment saving his son Alejandro Montero from being publicly executed by José Castillo. José planned the public execution in front of Lobo memorial at town square by hanging Alejandro from "barrel of Yara's might" and then finish with an explosion. Carlos successfully saved his son from the hanging and the explosion, but not himself. José was glad that Carlos dies before siding with Libertad, thus he rewarded those who got involved in the fight such as the 3 FND lieutenants Horado, Jiménez and Peña. Antón Castillo was upset and pointed out to José how this played out exactly as Carlos intention of dying as a martyr, which rallied even more people around the Montero family and Libertad.

Being an air force general, José Castillo attempted to launch a surprise attack from the air against Dani Rojas. After he crashes his helicopter from an intense fight with Dani, Camila Montero puts a grenade in his mouth and pulls the pin, blowing his head off.

His coffin was put at San Pablo Church for, but nobody attended his funeral, only his last two relatives Antón and Diego Castillo, as well as two presidental guards. They didn't come to mourn him either, as Diego pointed out how nobody liked José. The two presidential guards insultingly poured gasolines all over the church and Antón set everything on fire.

If Dani takes the boat to leave Yara and live in the US, it's unknown what would happen to José and his extended family.

Trivia[]

  • In a note on his private Island, you can see that he's very jealous of Antón's treatment and priority of Diego over him. He's furious that a highway was named after Diego and not himself, showing his narcissism and desire to please his uncle, he even states he lost a Golden thong he got and also says he will poop in Diego Castillo or Antón Castillo's socks when they are asleep. It's implied that he's bisexual in the same note, as he asks for 10 women and 10 men after listing multiple drugs on a list he made written on a pornography magazine.
  • He seems to be rather heartless, feeling no remorse over killing his higher ranked soldiers, if it for his own benefit.
  • It is stated by Diego, that Antón himself doesn't like José, implying some past family rivalries. It is though unknown why, despite Antóns dislike towards him, was kept in the highest rank (General) within FND, likely because of nepotism as well as José having enough connections.
    • Even Raúl Sánchez questions his actions and asks Antón in a letter what to do about José, in fear of that it’ll bring Antón in a bad light.
  • José's death, is perhaps the most brutal in the franchise history.
  • In a letter in the Airfield's Control tower in Madrugada, it is stated that José is 1.8 meter tall. If this is correct, it would make Antón at least 1.9 meters tall. It is likely not true, and possibly a fanatic way to gain trust from the upper FND against those who are less fanatic, and jokes about José being a General Napoleon wannabee.
  • José along with María was modelled by Anton Glukhovsky.[2]
