Joseph's Secret is a Story Mission in Far Cry New Dawn. Start it by opening the door to Joseph's Sanctuary after arriving there during Into the Bliss.

Walktrough

After arriving at Joseph's Sanctuary, open the door. A cutscene plays in which Joseph Seed speaks about his sacrifices and how The Security Captain is going to be the one to bring salvation. The mission starts afterwards. Follow him to the top of former McKinley Dam while he explains why New Eden rejects technology, how the "locusts" embody everything "rotten" and how he found the fruit you are about to experience. An appletree grows at the end of the way - God's Gift. It sustained New Eden through the darkest time and nourishes what is in a person's soul. He offers this miracle to you and upon the first bite you pass out.
You awake in a foggy green arena-like area with 4 fire beacons burning. Joseph instructs you to find and slay the beast - your soul. After a few steps a monstrous bear spawns. Armed with only a bow aim for the exposed belly when it stands on its hind legs. When its life is lowered enough, the beacons are extinguished and the world turns dark. Hitting the bear now only makes it vanish but deals barely any damage. Fire arrows are provided to rekindle the beacons. Use the ziplines to traverse the area and light all beacons, which makes the beast vulnerable.
After a few hits the world turns dark again so rekindle the beacons once more. The bow disappears and you feel wrath flow trough you. Punch the bear with your fists until it is dead.
Back in the real world, Joseph helps you up and names you the shepherd of New Eden. Together both of you return to New Eden where Ethan Seed adresses the people explaining that they can't rely on Joseph anymore until he sees his father. He is shocked to see Joseph while the people are overjoyed. Joseph immediately takes over the leadership of New Eden and tells the people that their "shepherd" is also their "sword". From now on New Edeners fight the Highwaymen also during the day.
Ethan makes no secret of his disappointment and even tells the Security Captain that they should have killed Joseph when talking to him after the cutscene. The mission ends with talking to Joseph once again. He explains that the Scavengers of Prosperity should act quick now and that he grants leave for The Judge to accompany you as a Gun for Hire. God's Gift is also with you in the form of 5 additional, superhuman, Perks. Thomas Rush calls in to congratulate you and orders you back to Prosperity. This starts Upgrade Prosperity for a second time.
