Letter to Dutch is the name of two letters in Far Cry 5. Both can be found in the underground bunker of Richard "Dutch" Roosevelt: the first is on a table in a barracks-like room with a number of bunk beds and can be found as soon as the Junior Deputy is free to explore the bunker; the second is on top of the main workbench found in Dutch's locked armory, and can only be accessed after taking Dutch's key from his safe. Both letters were written by Roosevelt's son, Robbie, to his father

Letter to Dutch [#1][]

Dad,
I got your message. Good to hear they're dropping the charges. We'll try to come out for part of the summer—Ricky wants to show you how he's riding without training wheels—but Anne's got a lot of work at the college.
I know how much it means to you, so we'll try... only, please lay off the homeschooling talk, okay? It's not right for me or Anne, and the school in South Street is one of the best.
And let's keep the "prepping" activity to a minimum. I know Ricky loves it, but it freaks Anne out.
Talk soon,
Robbie

Letter to Dutch [#2][]

Dad, we aren't gonna be visiting anymore. Last time was the last straw.
We said we didn't want Ricky shooting, but you just won't listen. He could have killed himself!
My son isn't going to grow up thinking the end of the world was right around the corner. He's five and he's having nightmares about nuclear war! What the fuck is wrong with you? I thought we were past this, but you never change.
Anne's taken a job down in Texas, and I'll be able to find work down there easy. I won't be sending you our address.
I'm sorry, Dad. I hope someday you can find the help you need.
Robbie

Trivia[]

  • Both letters underline Dutch's obsession with total societal collapse and his strong survivalist ethos, as well as his increasing isolation from his immediate family.
  • Both letters reveal Dutch's fraught relationship with his son and daughter-in-law.
  • Neither letter mentions the Eden's Gate cult, which implies both predate the presence of the Seed Family and their ilk in Hope County (at least in any conspicuous way).
