Major Vong is a Vietnamese NVA Commander in Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness. The title is also the name of a mission where the player is directed to kill the Major before he can escape.

Major Vong can be found wandering around with a few of his soldiers outside a medium sized hut slightly northeast the Rice Paddy marker. Once the player is detected, the Commander will hide and/or run. He may also send a dog after the player. The Commanders have more health than the rest of the militants and will likely take several shots before he goes down.

- Vong is armed with 1911.
- Since Vong is a slang for death in his language, it's extremely unlikely that would be his name, his name is probably Vọng but being written as Vong in English.
- It's likely that other Vietnamese would call him Thiếu Tá Vọng and he would also call himself as such.
- His uniform has several historical inaccuracies:
- All his previous ranks are displayed on his chest, even though People Army of Vietnam only began doing so in 21st century, not during Vietnam War.
- Despite being a major (Thiếu Tá), his shoulder insignias are colonel rank (Thượng Tá) from 21st century, not during Vietnam War, and major (Thiếu Tá) shoulder insignias are supposed to have just 1 star, not 3.
- His collar insignias erroneously say corporal (Hạ Sĩ) and used a fictional crossed rifles symbol instead of a silver star.
- This is likely because everything were from the memories and imagination of Wendell Redler, who cannot remember all details after several decades.
