María Marquessa is one of the antagonists of Far Cry 6.

Biography[]

María Marquessa is Antón Castillo's Minister of Culture. She is considered Yaran royalty and the queen of propaganda, censorship, and telenovelas.[1]

Maria is an actress and producer, famous for her novel "True Tears", it was during this time that she managed to catch Anton's attention and consummate a relationship.

As the new Minister of Culture, Maria would become the regime's person in charge of promoting Anton's views inside and outside Yara, starting a strong censorship campaign against journalists not related to the regime, controlling radio and television stations to only play the points of view consistent with Castillo and above all, demonizing the guerrillas through propaganda, as can be seen in the Museum of the False Revolution, in addition to personally inviting foreign journalists who would have no problem narrating what Maria told them.

Maria herself is a very skilled propagandist, managing to show the regime as tolerant by incorporating Rosa Mel Paquete, a drag artist, first on television (even if she was ridiculing her in Maria's novels with appearances and denigrating jokes that Gilberto, the real identity of Rosario, then she would improve) and then joining as a poster girl for the FND.

Maria runs the "Academy for the True Yarans", a brainwashing center for all those who cause problems for the regime with artistic manifestations, Talia Benavídez being one of the many captured before escaping with the help of her boyfriend Paolo.

She is the secret mother of Diego Castillo.

Against Antón's initial request, María doesn't let Diego knows the truth that he is her son and doesn't want any involvement with his life either, although later on at her mansion in Noventarmas, she wrote to Antón that she accepts the new "contract" in which she would meet Diego at his 18th birthday and finally admit to him that she is his mother. As Antón has blood cancer (leukemia) and might not be able to raise Diego until his adulthood, Maria assured Antón that Diego would be provided for financially by her estates should something happens to Antón.

If Dani takes the boat to leave Yara and live in the US, it's unknown what would happen to María and her family.
