Medusa is the name of the boat on which Jack transported Valerie to Krieger's archipelago.
Appearances[]
It is seen only in the intro cutscene. Jack and Valerie arrive at the archipelago. Valerie watches an island (most likely Alura where the level Training takes place) through binoculars and departs on a water scooter. Suddenly, Jack's boat is hit by a rocket fired from the island by a mercenary. The missile leaves the boat completely shattered with some fragments sinking down and others floating around.
In Training, some mercenaries can be heard talking about a boat they blew up.[1] It is implied that a team of mercenaries used patrol boats to attack Jack's boat, which contradicts the scene shown in the intro cutscene where a lone mercenary in the bushes shoots with what appears to be an RPG (a weapon absent from the game).

Trivia[]
- Medusa is mentioned in the novel The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells on which the game is loosely based. It is a vessel of which the crew was said to have suffered a far more severe shortage of food and water in comparison with the crew of Lady Vain, the shipwrecked vessel which left the novel's hero and his companions adrift in a dinghy until he as the only survivor was rescued by a passing schooner.
« | The longboat [Lady Vain], with seven of the crew, was picked up eighteen days after by H.M. gunboat Myrtle, and the story of their terrible privations has become quite as well known as the far more horrible Medusa case. | » |
