The North Railyard is a location in Far Cry 2.

History[]

The North Railyard (as its name suggests) is a rail yard located in the north-western sector of Leboa-Sako. It's under control of the UFLL.

Before the war, it was most likely used by the Unnamed African Country's railways to store unused trains and rail cars, and to offload freight for shipment. The UFLL still uses the yard for this purpose, as can be seen in the faction mission Head to the rail yard and destroy the tanker car.

Layout[]

The layout of the rail yard consists warehouse next to the tracks, a water tower, a rail shed with some freight cars parked inside and dozens of derailed train cars. The yard itself is quite cramped, only consisting of 3 short storage tracks that connect to the rest of the railway network. The entire location is enclosed by chain link and metal fences to prevent trespassers from entering.

The rail yard offers a lot of cover to use during firefights. The trains parked on the tracks can be used as cover, a lot of the derailed carriages can be entered and concrete pipes can be found all over the place which can be used to hide from enemies.

On top of the train shed is a sniper and a lot of regular patrols here. A diamond case can be found directly inside the shed.

To the east there is a cliff with a small footpath that you can take to have a very good sniping position and or enter stealthily.

Role in-game[]

In the faction mission Head to the rail yard and destroy the tanker car, you're informed by captain Prosper Kouassi and Nick Greaves that the UFLL are storing a tanker car full of natural gas at the rail yard. The UFLL were planning to sell the natural gas to an unknown neighboring country to the west in exchange for medical supplies, and the APR wishes to stop this deal from happening. The APR contracts you to destroy this tanker car and ruin the deal.

The rail yard is also the main setting of Michele Dachss' buddy mission Go to the rail yard and find the lost box of files. A passenger train she was on got attacked by a faction and as a result, she lost important documents which contained evidence against the factions. The remains of the train ended up as wreckage in the rail yard, and so she asks you to go to the rail yard to retrieve the documents for her.
