Occidental Growers Company is a location in Far Cry 2.

History

Located in the eastern sector of the Leboa-Sako district, the site is centered around a large commercial greenhouse project owned by a European agricultural company called the Occidental Growers Company (OGC). During the events of Far Cry 2, the OGC is the only company still operating in the UAC.

Layout

The site is almost entirely enclosed by mountains and cliffs, save for two road entrances to the east and west, an opening to the north, and a small footpath to the south. It has large fields of crops which, despite offering little cover from enemy fire, provide good visual cover so that enemies cannot see you from a distance. There are two greenhouses in the center that house some small plants, and a water tower right beside them. A sniper lookout can be found to the north of them. There is a small stream to the north-west with some buildings nearby.

There is a hidden path near a cliff directly south of the base. You can occasionally find APR soldiers patrolling it.

Role in-game

The APR started providing protection to OGC during the civil war, hence why they have a presence here. The APR's special treatment towards OGC and the fact that the company continued to produce harmful pesticides which risked damaging the local ecosystem would later make them a target for the UFLL.

In the mission "Destroy the red pumps in the greenhouse", the player is contracted by the UFLL to destroy the irrigation pumps at their greenhouse in order to stop the company's operations completely. If the player subverts this mission, a buddy will use a defoliant on this area, destroying all the vegetation.

Notes

• There are two diamond cases here. One is directly inside the base, while the other one is to the south of it on the small hidden path.
• One of the buddy missions ("Go to the greenhouses and steal the sack of leaves") is where the player retrieves a sack of the narcotic khat from the greenhouse and that khat is apparently cultivated at the farm. It is also implied the player consumed some of the khat.
