General Raúl "Old Dog" Sánchez is the antagonist of Far Cry 6. He is Antón's highest ranked general in the FND and commanded the (FDT) Fuerzas de Defensa de Tierra (Land Defense Forces, or the FND Army). He leads the FND operations and oversees José Castillo, Mariano, María Marquessa and Aña Benítez. Alongside all that, he's the main face when Antón Castillo shows up to spread fear, and during torture for information.
Background[]
Not much is known about Raúl Sánchez, other than at some point he lost part of his right leg, This could've occurred in a previous war between the Castillo's and the Guerrilla's. At some point he reached the rank of top General in the FND.
Far Cry 6[]
We first see Raúl in the prologue, when Dani Rojas Lita Torres and Marco escapes from Esperanza on a boat. The boat is stopped by Antón and Raúl. After Antón has made it clear that when he was once with his father, they captured fish, and "released" them, an elder lady taunts Castillo and approaches him. Raúl is quick to draw his MK-IV and shoot her in the head.
The next time we see Raúl, he's torturing Julio Velez, after he somehow got captured. After a failed attempt to get info from Julio, he is beaten to death by Raúl, who also likely sends the picture of his corpse to Juan Cortez.
The last time we see Raúl, he captured and tortured Dani by ripping out her molars and helping Antón burn Dani's tongue with his cigar. When attempting to cut Dani's throat, Diego Castillo shoots Raúl in the head, killing him.
If Dani takes the boat to leave Yara and live in the US before that point, it's unknown what would happen to Raúl.
Trivia[]
- Despite being the tertiary antagonist, he has the least lines of all the major antagonists to date. Only speaking two lines in the entire story, both in the same mission.
- Noam Jenkins, the actor of Raúl Sánchez, also played Aiden Pearce in Watch Dogs, another Ubisoft game.
- Raúl Sánchez is probably the only character Antón Castillo respects besides Diego as during his death Anton will initially be sad and then get angry and finally calm down. This is the only character whose death ignited emotion in Antón Castillo. This means they may have had a great past together.
- During the cutscene, Raúl is not wearing his hat. When the cutscene ends and the cell is on fire, Raúl’s corpse is wearing the hat.
