King Min's Kyrat

Rajgad Gulag is a location and fortress within Kyrat in Far Cry 4.

The fortress belongs to Pagan Min and is easier to take down once he is dealt with. There are many overlapping lines of sight which make it the most difficult fortress in the game. Targeting the Heavy Gunner Commanders and/or elite snipers that overwatch the rest of the compound makes things much easier as the rest are just Defender Lieutenants.

Tactical Tips[]

This fortress is extremely difficult to deal with, stealth or not. There are multiple ways to enter, athough all of them are guarded by about a dozen landmines that are very difficult to detect. There are several Heavy Gunner Commanders, Commander Snipers and Commander Defenders all patrolling the area. The snipers get a good look over the entire outpost, and will easily spot a sneaking player trying to come from the hills. The sneaky entrance is a small path to the left of the outpost guarded by a trail laid out five several land mines, and it leads into a cave under the outpost. The other way to enter is through some grapple points on the outside walls. However, these areas are littered with landmines. The main gate is also an option for a full-frontal assault, albiet a dangerous one due to landmines and sniper fire. Taking the sneaky path to the cave, one will find a vertical shaft filled with iron bars covering holes, seeimingly for prisoners left to die and for torture. There is two grapple points in the cave, and some explosive barrels scattered about. Be careful when entering the cave, as falling down the vertical shaft will kill the player if he falls from the very top. There is also a White mushroom at the bottom, and an RPG-7 laying there for the player to use if things get crazy. The top level of the cave has some cargo and junk laying around, along with a loot chest and another explosive barrel. Looking out from the inside of the cave, the main fortress gate is visible, and any patrolling enemies on the main road will quickly spot the player if they are caught leaving the cave. From here, there are three main locations in the fortress to be aware of. The first is the buildings at the top of the fortress, where there two two ammo crates, some loot chests, the safehouse, some quests, and three Royal Guard Sniper Commanders. They have very durable body armour, extremely deadly Z93's that fire faster than the player can shoot a Z93, and they can spot the player easily from very far distances. Taking them out from afar with a sniper is not reccomended, as the other soldiers will be alerted instantly and start sweeping the area. This is also the best area to take control of the outpost, as one gets a vantage point of the entire fortress. There is also a mounted machine gun and a mortar here, and two alarms. To the left looking down from the houses, there is some smaller buildings where some heavies and defenders patrol, including two alarms. To the right, there is another mounted machine gun, and more heavies, along with more defenders. If Pagan Min is still alive, there will be many more soldiers in the area, along with landmines. If he is dead or has left Kyrat after the final mission, there will be no landmines, and only three snipers, three heavies, and four defenders.

The reinforcements called in are the most numerous and dangerous in the entire game. There will be three waves of enemies called in, and all of them will be accompanied by fully-loaded helicopters carrying four soldiers each, usually heavies and chargers. There will also be more heavies coming in from the road, and a mixture of defenders and chargers. All in all, if the base is alterted, the player will need to deal with almost ten heavies, four snipers, and over a dozen chargers and defenders, bringing the enemy count to about 34 heavily-armed and deadly soldiers. This makes going loud a very bad idea unless the player has plenty of syringes, body armour, most or all skills unlocked, and a very powerful weapon such as the Buzzsaw or LK-1018 with LCAM scope. The AMR will also be useful for destroying the three helicopters and multiple Scavenger trucks that spawn. The reinforcements will try to use the mortar and mounted machine guns when possible, making it even more difficult. If the base is alerted, the only viable strategy is to hide in the cave entrance and let the reinforcements funnel themselves in, and then kill the snipers at the end, who will refuse to move. However, if one is not well prepared for this small army of soldiers, it might be better to just kill yourself by jumping down the cave shaft and trying again stealth. In addition, there are four alarms to try and destroy, and they are all guarded by soldiers, with one being inside of a small building near the entrance. Taking out all the alarms is extremely difficult regardless of the direction taken. The only saving grace to this outpost is that there are no attack dogs, flamers or hunters to deal with, but the abundance of heavies makes defeating this the most violent battle the player will ever face in the game. As stated before, the Buzzsaw is more or less mandatory if the player wants any chance at surviving all three wavies of reinforcements. Taking down the outpost stealth is very hard, but it can be done with the Bull shotgun and plenty of takedowns.

Trivia[]

  • "Gulag" was an acronym for the government agency in charge of forced labor camps within the Soviet Union. These were active from the early 1920s and were officially abolished in 1960, and have since become famous in popular culture as oppressive environments used to torture or kill off political dissidents. Due to the cave shaft being filled with holes cut into the rock and barred off with iron grates, Min could have been using this outpost as a torture spot or prison.
  • Rajgad word possibly derived from word Raja, which means King in Indian language. When the two words combined Rajgad Gulag meant as King's Prison.
  • The name of of Rajgad Gulag possibly a symbolization Pagan Min as the King or Ruker that dictate his citizen inside a cage called a country. Hence why it's named Rajgad Gulag
