The Rebel Defender is a type of warrior in Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4.
The only difference between the Rebel Defender and the Rebel Assaulter is that the former wears body armor and has slightly more health than the other rebels.
They are sometimes seen driving a Scavenger, RHIB or Technical at liberated areas.
Far Cry 4[]
The defenders are one of the most common members of the Golden Path. Both male and female, They wield Ak47 assault rifles and M1911 sidearms for drive by shooting. They look similar with assaulters, the only difference being the bigger vest they're wearing providing them with armor against bullets, they act similar to Royal army defenders and are more careful in combat. When Ajay liberates an outpost or a fortress a car of golden path defenders/assaulters arrive to help protect it. They can be commonly seen around the map, doing random things on foot with a group such as fighting in skirmishes,defending an area or patrolling with vehicles.

- Strangely enough, despite being tribal warriors of a seafaring Malay-Polynesian ethnic group, they cannot swim and will die from downing if fall into water, just like their enemies Vaas Montenegro Pirates and Hoyt Volker Privateers.
