Rebellion is the eleventh level in Far Cry. The title refers to the trigens rebelling against their masters.

Overview[]

While still in the building, Jack can hear battle noises coming from outside. Doyle confirms that there is a "war zone" and that the same can be read on all the communication channels. Jack finally exits the steam regulator facility and witnesses an intense fight between the mercenaries and the trigens. In addition to the Fat Boys, there are also previously unseen trigens – rifle-wielding humanoids able to jump even higher than the monkey trigens. The horde of trigens is forcing their way through the gate to the compound, and the mercenaries are defending their positions from the ramparts and the towers.

Rebellion lighthouse

The lighthouse seen in the distance

As Jack makes his way through the island, he comes across more skirmishes with patrols. Doyle advises him to head towards a lighthouse to the south to reach the archives. An abundance of vehicles such as 4WD's and hang gliders makes it easier and safer to travel around the island. However, the roads have many obstacles such as burning logs or boulders falling off cliffs, which can be fatal.

The outer perimeter of the archives is the place of another large battle. The only way through is across a barricaded bridge. Doyle suggests getting past the battle is a better option that joining it. A unit of elite mercenaries arrives to protect the scientists, but instead they defy the orders and evacuate themselves by helicopter. Jack enters the archive complex.

Rebellion map

The map of Jacutan found in various places of the island, such as towers or the control center. It highlights the two roads leading to the archives.

Control center[]

Control center is the southern part of the steam regulator facility situated in the northern part of Jacutan. The player starts inside the building. By the time he gets to the outside, he encounters a few monkey trigens, which have probably jumped over the walls. The outside portion of the control center is heavily fortified with a rampart, towers, machine guns and a mortar. One Squeaker has already reached the rampart. The entrance to the compound is protected by a strong gate, but it is soon destroyed by rockets from Fat Boys, which leaves the lever sparking. The first tower to the north is vacant and equipped with a mortar, making it a fairly safe place.

Mountain tunnel[]

Opposite the control center there is an entrance to a tunnel leading through a mountain by one exit and to the top by another. There is a passage where a sudden emission of steam forces the player to jump over pipes by using a moveable crate. Next, the tunnel splits into two parts. The left-hand part leads upwards by a ladder, but first a padlock has to be destroyed to open the door. The player has to jump to reach the ladder because it starts at a lower level. While the player is climbing up, a body of a Rear Guard falls down. The right-hand part is where a Worker is repairing a pipe. The top of the mountain, where there is a hang glider guarded by a Squeaker, can also be reached by a path from the outside.

Solitary tower[]

A tower standing on a rugged islet is isolated from the rest of the map, as it can only be accessed by the player with the use of a hang glider. There is a small pier to the south which suggests that the mercenaries get there by boat, but that option is unavailable to the player. The shoreline is also too steep to allow swimming across. A flying fox can be used to move from the islet back to the main island, but it only works in one direction. This location is worth visiting only for minor resupply.

Lighthouse[]

The lighthouse is a landmark that helps Jack orient himself and find his way to the archives. It is situated atop a mountain and constantly rotates a beacon of light. It is guarded by a Rocket Merc, a Sniper, and a Mortar gunner on a neighboring mountain.

Outer perimeter[]

The outer perimeter of the archives is a place of a major battle between the mercenaries and trigens. The player can go straight down the road across a wooden bridge into the battle, or use the flying fox to ascend a mountain and eliminate some of the enemies from there. He will have to make his way across a barricaded bridge, however, to reach his destination. Scientists can be seen at the helipad and on the rooftop of the Archive building.

Bugs[]

Static helicopter[]

An attack helicopter at the outer perimeter of the archives attacks the player. After the gunner is killed, the helicopter lands on the road or hovers above it. If the player had chosen to pass from the lighthouse to the mountain over a natural rock bridge, the helicopter deactivates and stays motionless. If the players goes down the road, the helicopter turns on the engine, lights, and rotors, stirring up a cloud of dust, but remains in place.

Static enemies[]

At the barricaded bridge to the archives, most of the enemies suddenly become immune to damage and ignore the player as well as other AI. They also either completely freeze or start running in place.
