Relic Shrine is a location featured in Far Cry 4's Valley of the Yetis add-on. It is the location of the add-on's final mission, which sees Ajay destroy the relic to put a stop to the disciples and the creation of the yetis. Ascending the mountain the shrine is located within, Hajura’Amako Hatama, is impossible until the mission begins as the location is the only one in the valley that requires Ajay to wear an oxygen mask due to the altitude.
While the relic within is shrouded in mystery, details of its arrival to the valley are made clear by an acolyte of Yalung. In 1665 the acolytes brought it to the valley from an unknown location, and began revering it heavily. They believed that it was a gift from the demon Yalung, and that it could “awaken” them with it’s power.
Surrounding the shrine one may find the frozen, mummified bodies of acolytes that had gone into meditation, and began to “awaken”. Each of them displays different stages of mutation; some with giant masses of orange flesh on their shoulders, fur growth, ape-like faces, and some that have even become yetis, but had frozen before they could leave.
The notes of an acolyte can be found near the shrine, and all over Hajura’Amako Hatama. These notes details how his cult came to the valley, had begun to ingest the relic’s products, and practice their long form of meditation in order to become “awakened”, and terrorize the valley as yetis.
Inside the shrine cave a voice can be heard is echoing phrases such as “awaken!" or "Your path is with us!”. Whether the voice is of a deceased acolyte, a demonic entity, or a hallucination is unknown.
From the texts and ruins left behind it appears that the acolytes were not forcing the citizens already in the valley to become “awakened”. However, some eventually did transform due to the relic spreading from the cave and infecting various hot springs. This is why Kamala’s father Rajesh had warned her to not drink strange colored water, as evidenced by the notes between the two of them.
