Sean McKay is the secondary antagonist and one of the overarching antagonists (alongside Antón Castillo) in Far Cry 6.

Biography[]

Sean McKay is a Canadian businessman and client of Antón Castillo who owns McKay Global. Sean is a serial imperialist who handles Antón's Viviro imports and exports from El Este.[1]

Sean McKay is a billionaire who started out as a security contractor. He is married with children but has several mistresses from Canada, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. McKay claims (and hinted by clues) that he has overthrown many third-world countries and that Yara is just another addition to that list. McKay signed a deal that his company, McKay Global, to operate all industrial plants in La Joya in a joint venture with the Yaran government, coming to create a Yaran branch of the companies. He comes to Yara and begins to have the run of the place. McKay has a tense relationship with Admiral Aña Benítez and are always trying to undermine the other. These feuds become so heated Antón himself mediates several of them. Sean McKay's statement "Pets will eat your face to survive. So will your children.", may have been because of what Benítez had done to her parents.

Dani Rojas met McKay when they went to his office to take down the surveillance system. He taunted the guerrilla when reinforcements arrived, but Dani escapes. Libertad destroyed most of his industrial plants in retaliation for the usage of PG-420X that killed many guerrillas. McKay called in some favors and agreed to financially back Libertad in exchange for his life. Juan Cortez made Dani aware of this and tells them to rethink killing him. Canonically, Dani Rojas spared McKay, and he fled Yara, along with calling Willis Huntley and Longinus to discuss businesses during his leave.[2] [3]

Personality[]

Sean McKay is a very repulsive, narcissistic, greedy, loud-mouth individual. He is an imperialist who dislikes the poor and has no qualms profiting off of slave labor from a fascist country. He is eccentric in his mannerisms and often does not know when to stop talking. Despite this, he is a very effective and charismatic businessman. McKay follows a bizarre philosophy where he does not apologize and displays a viewpoint that everyone is a victim so therefore there are no victims, which makes victimization guiltless to him. McKay is very conniving which is emphasized when he took advantage of the hospitality of a man he helped get a promotion in the government and later impregnated his teenage daughter.

McKay displays some of his most abhorrent behavior towards his family. He is very abusive towards his three eldest daughters with displaying hatred toward them but rationalizes this behavior as making them stronger and that they will love him anyway. He even refers to them in a letter as simply Daughter #1 to #3. McKay frequently commits adultery against his wife but does provide her, his mistresses, and his daughters with souvenirs from Yara.

McKay appears to be a cosmopolitan man, as he adores Latin American culture (allegedly) and on occasion even speaks in Spanish from the Yaran dialect. It is unclear whether if he's disingenuously attempting to communicate with the Yaran people or is just expressing how much he loves the culture. From what we have seen, his claims of loving Latin American culture are likely false as he has demonstrated heavy racism throughout the game, and especially when he speaks to Dani.
