The Seed Family (not to be confused with Joseph Seed's actual biological family) or The Heralds are a family living in Hope County serving as the primary antagonists in Far Cry 5 and Inside Eden's Gate.
Overview[]
A family of Hope County and leaders of the cult Project at Eden's Gate. Joseph Seed is the patriarch of the family which he also calls the heralds. All the siblings have bunkers, which must be destroyed directly after killing them.
History[]
According to The Book of Joseph, the Seed siblings came from a broken household, with an alcoholic and highly religious father whom the public referred to as "Old Man Seed". They lived in a poor neighborhood in Rome, Georgia. After discovering what Joseph and Jacob were being taught in public schooling, he would later pull Joseph and Jacob out in the middle of a class, all while going on a loud, angry tirade about religion. Their mother did little to act, seemingly turning a deaf ear to what was happening, apparently having been crushed by her marriage to her husband.
After teachers discovered that John had been beaten, the Seed siblings were placed into social services. Old Man Seed would die in a federal prison in Atlanta towards the end of his sentence, having apparently fallen down stairs, while their mother would never be seen again.
The Seed siblings would be sent to an orphanage first, and then to foster parents in a small town not far from Rome, where they would be beaten, forced to work in the fields, care for themselves and live in a barn. One night, Jacob set fire to the farm, and knocked out their adoptive father with an axe handle. Afterward, the Seeds would be diagnosed by psychiatrists as dangerous, and who needed to be separated. Jacob was placed in a juvenile detention center, John was adopted by the Duncan family, and Joseph was left alone at the orphanage, passing through several foster families throughout his adolescence.
Later on, Joseph would reunite with his siblings and begin the Project at Eden's Gate.
Far Cry 5[]
Secret Ending: With the Sheriff's Department leaving, it is highly likely that the cult remained in power and managed to gain even more strength and followers. It's unknown how would they prepare for the collapse on larger scale however, and whether they would successfully survive or not. It's also unknown whether they would welcome Ethan Seed in the family or not.
Walk Away: Faith, John and Jacob are killed by The Junior Deputy but Joseph was spared. With the Deputy’s departure, Joseph remains in charge with the brainwashed leaders of the Resistance. It's unknown how would they prepare for the collapse when most members are already dead and most crucial assets destroyed throughout the game. It's also unknown whether they would welcome Ethan Seed in the family or not.
Resist: Faith, John and Jacob are killed along with most of their followers by The Junior Deputy and Joseph is tragically stuck in the same bunker with the deputy.
Far Cry New Dawn[]
In the aftermath of Resist ending, the Deputy and Joseph are stuck in the same bunker waiting for radiation to stabilize. Meanwhile, Ethan Seed took advantage of him being Joseph's son and became leader New Eden, formed by cult members who survived the apocalypse. Unfortunately, Ethan died in the end, leaving Joseph as the last member of the Seed family again. Devastated, Joseph requested The Security Captain to kill him. The captain can either shoot him or spare him. If Joseph is spared, he would be the last of Seed family in a post apocalyptic world.
Far Cry 6[]
In Far Cry 6 timeline, according to a letter at Oceguera Farm for Riel, one of Lorenzo's numerous children, the Seed family are still alive as of 2021, living up to their name by selling flower seeds. They are even willing to export Bliss flowers to interested buyers.
As the world including the US were not destroyed in 2018, and the waves of sectarian violence incited by the cult did not happen, or at least nowhere near the level seen in Far Cry 5, as the Seed Family are still alive with public online presence as of late 2021, likely because they and their cult were not breaking the laws, at least not to the point of being confronted by US law enforcements, as the US government is not distracted by WW3 in this case.
The DLC Joseph: Collapse took place in Resist ending, while Joseph was stuck in the bunker with the Deputy, Joseph's mind experienced a vision of what would happen if entire Seed family survives the nuclear apocalypse and live with him. In this vision, their mental health worsened and also lost their faith in Joseph.

Their surname, Seed, is referenced a lot in the Bible, example in Genesis 1:29, but as in plant and fruit seeds.
