The Survival Guide is a tutorial section in Far Cry New Dawn's game menu.

Prosperity Basics[]

Prosperity is your homebase. It contains several Facilities which give benefits.
Bring Specialists back to Prosperity to upgrade it and improve the Facilities
Scavenge Outposts to get Ethanol to upgrade the Facilities

Facility - Weapon Workbench[]

Weapon Workbench allows crafting and equipping weapons.
Upgrade the Weapon Workbench with Ethanol to make it more efficient and craft weapons of higher Rank.
Interacting with a Weapon Workbench allows you to trade animal skins for resources as well as refill ammo

Facility - Explosive Lab[]

Explosive Labs allow you to craft Throwable items.
Upgrade the Explosive Labs with Ethanol to be able to craft new explosive items

Facility - Vehicle Workbench[]

Garage allows crafting and vehicles
Upgrade the Garage with Ethanol to make it more efficient and to craft vehicles of higher Rank

Facility - Expeditions[]

The Expeditions Facility unlocks Fast Travel and Expeditions.
Going on Expeditions allows you to gather special resources used to craft high rank weapons and vehicles.
Like Outposts, Expeditions increase in difficulty once completed.
At the highest difficulty, rewards are greater, but more advanced weapons will be required.
Upgrade the Expedition Helicopter to get the ability to Air Drop.

Facility - Training Camp[]

Training Camp allows your Guns for Hire to become more efficient.
Upgrade the Training Camp with Ethanol to improve the health and damage of your allies

Facility - Healing Garden[]

Healing Garden allows you to collect plants and craft Medkits.
Upgrade the Healing Garden with Ethanol to improve Medkit efficiency for the same crafting cost.

Facility - Infirmary[]

Infirmary allows increasing your health.
Upgrade the infirmary with Ethanol to increase your maximum health.

Facility - Cartography[]

Cartography allows you to acquire Intel Maps.
Upgrade Cartography with Ethanol to unlock new Intel Maps.

Crafting - Basics[]

Crafting Weapons or Vehicles requires Resources.
Once the correct resources have been collected, Craft the desired item in a Weapon Workbench or Garage in Prosperity or a liberated Outpost.
Tip: Weapons and Vehicles have Ranks. Upgrade the Weapon Workbench or Garage to craft weapons or vehicles of higher ranks respectively.

Crafting - Special Ammo[]

Some weapons can use different types of ammunitions.
Through the Weapon Wheel, cycle through them by pressing (Controller "RB") to cycle through Standard, Incendiary, Explosive or Armor Piercing Ammo depending on the weapon selected.
Special Ammo can be acquired through any Workbench or shop.
Incendiary Ammo: Light stuff on fire.
Explosive Ammo: Blow stuff up.
Amor-Piercing Ammo: Pierce through shields and helmets.

Crafting - Looting animals[]

Hunt animals and loot their Skins and Meat.
If you kill an animal with Melee Weapons or Arrows, you will get more skins and meat
Trade the skins at any Workbench or Shops to receive Crafting Materials.
Meat can be used to craft bait used to attract predators when thrown or medkits to heal yourself.
Tip: Monstrous Animal Skins can be exchanged for Crafting Materials or used to craft weapons and vehicles[sic] of higher rank.

Crafting - Plants[]

Plants are useful ingredients to craft Medkits, Bait, Explosives and to Resurrect Allies.
Yucca can be found in and near forests.
Bougainvillea can be found near lakes and rivers.
Cistanche can be found in caves and along roads.

Weapon Wheel - Basics[]

Use the Weapon Wheel to select from the weapons carried.
Hold (Controller "LB") to open the Weapon Wheel.
Select the desired item with (Controller "RS")
Get access to Throwables via the Weapon Wheel.
Select the desired item using (Controller "D-Pad down") and (Controller "D-Pad up").
Tip: Throwables can be crafted in the Weapon Wheel as well as in the Inventory.

Guns For Hire - Basics[]

Guns For Hire are people or animals that you can assign to assist you.
They each have unique abilities to complement your arsenal and playstyle.
They acquire new abilities the more they fight alongside you and perform Kills.
Upgrade the Training Camp in Prosperity to increase Guns For Hire efficiency, health, and damage.

Guns For Hire - Controls[]

Your Guns For Hire act on their own, but you can give them commands.
Press (Controller "D-Pad left") to order your ally to Reach or Attack a target.
Press (Controller "D-Pad right") to order your ally to Leave his position and Follow you.
When a Guns For Hire is out of commision, you can bring them back through the Roster Menu

World Map - Basics[]

The World Map is your go to place to see all the information you've gathered by exploring Hope County and from purchased Intel Maps.
You can also place a Waypoint anywhere to set a marker on your Compass to get directions while driving.
You can also see the location of available Missions, interesting locations, and more
Tip: Zoom Out to see information about your progression

Hope County - Outposts[]

Scavenge Outposts to gather Ethanol.
A Scavenged Outpost will be taken back by the Highwaymen, who will bring more ethanol and improve the defenses

Hope County - Treasure Hunt[]

Find and loot Secret Stockpiles to gather a large variety of crafting materials, ammunition, and other valuables.

Hope County - Hidden Supplies[]

Locations marked with the Hidden Supplies symbol hide a small stockpile of valuable items.

Hope County - Animal Den[]

Some animals carry their prey to their Den.
Track them to loot more Items

Hope County - Monstrous Animals[]

Monstrous Animals are the thoughest beasts found in the wild. They have glowing read Weak Spots that help take them down.
Monstrous Animal Skins can be exchanged for Crafting Materials or used to craft weapons and vehicles [sic] of higher rank.

Hope County - Hostages[]

Free Civilians around Hope County to earn Perks [sic] Points.
Spend Perk Points to unlock Perks.

Hope County - Cargo Trucks[]

Loot Cargo Trucks to gather large amounts of Crafting Materials

Hope County - Tanker Truck[]

Steal a Tanker Truck and bring it back to a Liberated Outpost or Prosperity to collect its Ethanol.

Hope County - Supply Drops[]

Highwaymen perform air drops to re-supply their own.
Steal the Supply's contents but stay alert for approaching Highwaymen.

Hope County - Cages[]

Shoot or Interact with cages to free animals.
The animals will attack the Nearest Threat and cause chaos.
Watch out or you could be the animal's next target!

Hope County - Safes[]

Open Safes by using Remote Explosives.
Acquire the Lock Picking or Repair Torch Perk to open safes without remote explosives.

Hope County - Grapple[]

Unlock the grappling hook by acquiring the Grapple perk.
When near a grappling point, hold (Controller "X") to throw the grappling hook to the grapple point.
Holt (Controller "RT") or (Controller "LT") to climb up or down the rope.
Press (Controller "A") to jump from the rope.
Press (Controller "B") to detach.

Fishing - Casting[]

Equip the Fishing Rod trough the Weapon Wheel.
Hold (Controller "RT") to build casting momentum.
Release (Controller "RT") to Send the line into the water.
Reel the line in with (Controller "LT") to make the fly Attractive to the fish.
When the line gets a nibble, press (Controller "RT") to Hook the fish.

Fishing - Reeling[]

Reel in the fish by pressing (Controller "LT").
Fight the fish by moving (Controller "RS") in the opposite direction of the fish's movement.
Line tension builds when reeling the fish in or fighting it.
If the line turns red, stop fighting and reelingor the line will break.
Once tired, Reel in the fish before it regains strength.

Highwaymen - Assaulter[]

Lower tier Assaulters use a pistol while the higher tier use automatic rifles. They also get more efficient in using cover. Dynamite is ideal to force them into the open.

Highwaymen - Scavengers[]

Scavengers are highwaymen whose role is to loot Supply Drops and rob the dead. They amass greater quantities of Loot than your average Highwaymen.
They prefer fleeing to fighting, but will defend themselves when necessary.

Highwaymen - Brawlers[]

Brawlers carry shields and melee weapons, making them deadly at close range. Armor piercing bullets can destroy those shields very efficiently. Shoot Brawlers in the Legs to slow them down.

Highwaymen - Berserkers[]

Berserkers wield shotguns, which means they are dangerous a Close Range, but much less at a distance. You should take care of them before they get close. Mines are especially effective against them.

Highwaymen - Gunners[]

Gunners are relentless. They carry LMGs, which allow them to Suppress and disorient their targets. It's safer to avoid direct confrontation. Armor Piercing bullets are effective against them.

Highwaymen - Flamers[]

Flamers will light you right up with their flamethrowers if you get too close. Aim for the Red Tank on their back to blow them up instantly.

Highwaymen - RPG Wielders[]

Those RPG's pack a punch. Shoot at these Highwaymen while they are aiming to cause them to Misfire and force them to reload.

Highwaymen - Snipers[]

Snipers are though at long range combat, but powerless in close range. Approach them using Cover and Smoke Grenades to kill them from up close.

Highwaymen - Enforcers[]

Enforcers are top tier enemies. They are Real Threat and full of surprises. Make sure to be well equipped when facing an enemy with a Yellow Health bar.
Tip: Looting Enforcers will reward you with valuable items.

Highwaymen - Booby Traps[]

Some highwaymen vehicles are Booby Trapped.
Make sure you don't hear a beeping noise when getting into one.
Tip: The Hotwire Perk will automatically disable booby traps.

Stealth - Crouching[]

Press (Controller "B") to Crouch.
Crouching in tall grass helps you remain undetected.

Stealth - Detection Meter[]

The Detection Meter appears black when enemies can see you and fills with white when they begin to detect you. Once full, enemies will become hostile

Stealth - Fundamentals[]

Press (Controller "D-Pad down") to throw a rock to lure and distract an enemy.
While undetected and close to an enemy, press (Controller "RS") to perform a Takedown silently.
Unlock Takedown Perks to perform silent kills on enemies with higher Rank.

Melee Combat - Fistfighting[]

Quick Attack: Press (Controller "RT")
Heavy Attack: Hold and then release (Controller "RT")
Target Lock: Hold (Controller "LT")
Block: While in target lock, hold (Controller "RB")
Dodge: While in target lock, hold a direction with (Controller "LS") and press (Controller "A")

Melee Combat - Weapons[]

Equip a Melee Weapon through the Weapon Wheel.
When equipped, press (Controller "RT") to perform a quick attack.
Depending on its Rank, a melee weapon can resists more hits before breaking.
Hold (Controller "RT") to perform a Heavy Attack to unbalance your opponent and inflict more damage.
Tip: While holding (Controller "LT"), press (Controller "RT") to Throw a melee weapon.

Prestige - Far Cry Credits[]

Use Far Cry Credits to buy Prestige Weapons, Vehicles, Clothes, at any Workbench, Garage, Helipad and Boatshed.
You can buy and spend Far Cry Credits from the STORE option in the pause menu and the character menu.
Some Far Cry Credits are also hidden in every Treasure Hunts of Hope County.
