« I think there are two sites we need to worry about – an outpost and the main compound itself. If we wanna make sure we take both out, we're gonna need to get the nuke. »

Valerie

Swamp is the seventeenth level in Far Cry. This is the first time Jack has an active companion, Valerie, who helps him fight the Mercenaries.

Overview[]

After regrouping with Valerie, Jack gets a message from Doyle telling them that the office has assessed the situation and wants them to take out the main compound. Valerie responds by saying that there is also on outpost and they need to take out both; in order to do so, they'd need a nuke. Jack is worried by this, and Valerie assures him that it's a small one with just enough firepower to take out both places, and they will be out of the blast radius by the time it goes off. The pair then head towards a small camp nearby and clear it out. Jack then gets on the gunner seat of a parked Humvee and Val drives it through another camp to a swamp just outside another mercenary camp. There she tasks Jack to infiltrate the camp and escort her to the control room, so that she can hack into the security grid to gain access to the main camp. Once she does that, the duo make their way into the outpost, and Val tasks Jack to retrieve the nuke's arming device. They then head to the main compound's garage to find the nuke mounted on a forklift. Val drives it to Krieger's lab's entrance, and the level ends.

Bugs[]

Static helicopter[]

After the turret sequence, if players try to go back the way they came from, the helicopter from before would re-emerge. However, it there would be no gunner on it and it'll simply hover over Jack. It also cannot be destroyed, and will simply catch on fire and keep hovering if shot.

Trivia[]

  • In pre-release, Swamp and Factory were merged into one level titled "Compound".
