Papua New Guinea: Maybe it's an other set of islands? PNG is in Malenesia the Rook Islanders do not look like Malenesian people. They look like Polynesians. I would suggest removing that post... 208.96.65.201 23:11, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
- I tend to agree with you there. Geographically the Rook Islands do look a lot like some of the Polynesian islands but some of the wildlife (i.e. Sumatran Tiger) connects the archipalego to the Papua New Guinea area. But to your point about the Rook Islanders themselves, they do seem very Polynesian-like even very close to the Maori of New Zealand by some of the things they say. The lawless nature of the islands could connect them to Polynesia/Pacific as well, many of the Polynesian islands don't have their own defence forces and rely on outside protection. Samoa for example relies on New Zealand for protection, So pirates could easily have their way with an islands in this area. Enigma24 (talk) 04:02, July 16, 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think they deliberately wrote it so there's not a single source. They're speaking Maori, but the situation doesn't otherwise match New Zealand. The economic island's situation is very similar to Nauru-- which was once the world's richest country from phosphate mining, then collapsed to one of its poorest when the mines dried up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauru 74.74.176.116 05:03, March 23, 2015 (UTC)daggar
