The Relic is a mysterious lifeform that inhabits the Relic Shrine in the Valley of The Yetis DLC. It was brought to the aforementioned Valley in the mid 17th century, by the Disciples of Yalung. The relic seems to be some sort of hallucinogenic, and mutagenic fungi of sorts. Possibly created by the demon itself, and revered as a holy offering by the disciples.
From what can be seen in the shrine, and the fact that nearly 400 years had passed since its arrival. The relic must’ve been a somewhat small fungi at the time, and so the disciples created an orange stone temple for it. Given that this fungi started out small, the disciples would ingest it & go into their 100 year meditation cycles. In order to give the relic time to mutate their bodies, and “awaken” their inner forms.
While not entirely clear, a distorted voice can be heard throughout both the shrine, and the canyon of awakening’s hot spring. Possibly a ghost of the last disciple who entered the meditation transformation, and who now guards it against trespassers.
