Defend Prosperity

In-Game Description

Under Siege is a Story Mission in Far Cry New Dawn. You receive it once Prosperity is upgraded to level 2. Kim Rye hosts a barbecue, but the Highwaymen interupt it. 3 kids are kidnapped by Mickey & Lou. The Security Captain and Carmina Rye approach them and are threatened with destruction. Thomas Rush knows that an attack is imminent and prepares a defense.

Plot[]

Prosperity appears to be thriving for the first time in a long while—joyous children frolicking around the grass, and the lively noise of numerous conversations filling the air. Kim Rye is hosting a barbecue in celebration of Thomas Rush's rescue and the recent improvements of Prosperity, all thanks to the Security Captain. Kim comments she hasn't had this many people around ever since she announced being pregnant with Carmina. She thanks the Captain for their efforts in helping Prosperity. "Now c'mon, go grab a drink. It's long overdue." she tells them. The Captain obliges, grabbing a beer bottle beside a crate of them—a plate of food in their other hand. As they contemplate the atmosphere of Prosperity, they help themselves to a swig of their drink.

As the Captain enjoys their drink, several fireworks from outside intrude their sight of the idyllic Prosperity. The gathering is cut short, with Kim saying she's getting the kids inside. Carmina, Rush and the Captain hurry outside to investigate.

The group spot a cluster of Highwaymen firing warning shots at the air, their vehicles behind them. In front of the soldiers are children taken from Prosperity, serving as hostages for the Highwaymen. Mickey and Lou are among the group of Highwaymen, and the former hops down from the trunk of one of the pickup trucks. "Everything is going to be OK," says Carmina to the frightened children. Mickey backhands Carmina across the face, scolding her for lying to the children. She proceeds to tell them that Prosperity, along with the Captain, have thrown off their operations—and thus have become a problem. Lou comes behind from the truck, pulling the pin from a grenade. "I think we should just kill 'em." Lou threatens. Mickey denies her proposal, saying she doesn't want any martyrs. Instead, she calls the Captain's help a 'curse' and tells Carmina she'll take everything from them, threatening to come for them afterwards. Lou hands the grenade she had to one of the children, the lever still being held in place. Mickey tells the Captain she's done with looking weak, and that she's taking everything the group has—starting with Prosperity. "Don't be here when we come back." she warns, throwing the Captain the grenade pin from earlier—which the Captain catches. Mickey and Lou's group leave in their vehicles.

The Captain and Carmina rush towards the children, comforting them by repeating that it's OK. The Captain places the grenade pin back into the grenade one of the children was holding, and leads the three of them back to safety along with Carmina. Danger looms over Prosperity, where everyone reunites. Rush advises the Captain that he's sent a scout over towards the perimeter of Prosperity, and he urges the Captain to check on them, just to be safe. The Captain complies, and they make their way to the scout's position. Once they arrive at the scout's camp, they're told that there have been no signs of a Highwaymen attack yet. Moments after, however, the scout spots a distant group of Highwaymen approaching, and orders the Captain to get back to the others in Prosperity. Once they arrive, the Captain and their Prosperity allies must fend off the Highwaymen attack from their homebase.

Once the waves are fought back against, the Captain and Carmina check on Kim, who is attempting CPR on a Prosperity fighter, lying dead on the ground. Rush appears, and says that they've lost too many people as a result from the attack, and proposes contact with the New Edeners—to Kim's surprise. She responds by recounting her past experiences with Joseph Seed's group. Rush replies by telling her that they're good fighters, and that they don't have many choices left.

Intermission — CARMINA

A cutscene shows how the Father once gave food to a young Carmina. Shocked, Kim and Nick Rye told her to not receive anything from Joseph—not even food, despite their desperate circumstances.

Part 2 — NEW ALLIANCES

Objectives[]

  • REACH the scout
  • TALK to the scout
  • DEFEND Prosperity
  • ENTER Prosperity
  • DEFEND Prosperity
    • REPEL attacks from the North and West sides
    • DESTROY the approaching trucks
  • PREVENT the Highwaymen from planting bombs (if the Highwaymen have already breached Prosperity)

Walkthrough[]

After the cutscenes, Rush informs you about a forward scout. Drive there and find the approaching Highwaymen. Get back to Prosperity and kill all Highwaymen present. Get behind the walls and defend your position. There is a mortar and a turret nearby, which might come in handy. Mind the time difference between fire and effect, though.
After a few waves of attackers, siege trucks arrive. Those are equipped with ramps which enable the attackers to scale the walls. Explosives like Rocket Launchers, Explosive Arrows and Remote Explosives are very useful here. If the trucks are at the walls blowing them up has no effects anymore and the defenders will fall back. Highwaymen will try to plant bombs now, so kill them immediately. Choppers will drop Rank II soldiers, who parachute behind the walls. It is recommended that you use Rank II weapons and above to dispatch these.
