The IMI Uzi is an automatic sidearm in Far Cry 2.

It can be bought once players reach Act 2. Enemies wield this weapon after the first faction mission of Act 2. It is a sidearm for enemies armed with the SVD Dragunov, RPG-7, Carl G, and the Type 63 Mortar.

The Uzi is a related family of open-bolt, blowback-operated sub-machine guns. The first Uzi sub-machine gun was designed by Major Uziel Gal in the late 1940s. The prototype was finished in 1950 and first introduced to IDF special forces in 1954. The Uzi has found use as a personal defence weapon by rear-echelon, officers, artillery troops and tankers, as well as a front-line weapon by elite light infantry assault forces. Over its service lifetime, the Uzi was manufactured by Israel Military Industries, FN Herstal, and other manufacturers. It is chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge.

In-game, the weapon is basically an upgrade of the MAC-10 and is a much better choice as an automatic sidearm. It has a lower rate of fire, but higher damage. Thus, while it kills enemies similarly quickly to the MAC-10, it will typically use less ammunition and degrade more slowly.

The Uzi is an excellent secondary weapon for players who are not using an assault rifle or light machinegun. It is highly effective at close range and still capable of holding its own at middle ranges if the player fires in short bursts. It will typically down an enemy three to five hits.

Although it most commonly serves as a backup weapon for player using sniper rifles, the Uzi can also be used to complement a loadout with an assault rifle or light machinegun. This setup provides the player with extra firepower at close range and is ideal for people who prefer a loud, stand-up fight rather than stealth.

Oddly enough, the Uzi deals more damage than the MAC-10. In real life, the Uzi is chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge, while the MAC-10 is usually chambered for the much larger .45 ACP. Although 9mm variants of the MAC-10 do exist, explaining the two weapons ability to share ammunition.

The Uzi is a full-size submachine gun that weighs nearly eight pounds. (7.7 pounds when unloaded.) Despite this, the player character usually holds it one-handed and holds it like a pistol when aiming down the sights, instead of using the handguard at the front of the weapon.
