Viet Cong Brawler.

The Viet Cong Brawler is a type of Viet Cong in Hours of Darkness. They are the melee combat units of Viet Cong forces during the game. They do not have any NVA equivalent, since the latter were a national armed force, not guerillas.

Overview

They are guerrilla foot soldiers of Viet Cong and they are equipped with a Bamboo Stick. They will charge toward the player mindlessly to bash him with his stick. They are easily dispatched of. Their clothing is black shirts and pants, belt, bandages and sandals.

Trivia

Their choice of weapon is historically inaccurate. While Viet Cong indeed charged for melee combat, they charged with guns as any typical infantry would, then at close range they either switch to secondary blades or disarm and tackle enemies to the ground. Bamboo stick is simply unsuitable for such melee combat technique, not the right tool for the right job. Since everything are from the imagination and memories of Wendell Redler, he may have exaggerated or remembered it wrong.
