The Viet Cong Charger is a type of Viet Cong in Hours of Darkness. They are the close quarter combat units of Viet Cong forces during the game. They do not have any NVA equivalent, since the latter were a national armed force, not guerillas.

Overview

They are guerrilla foot soldiers of Viet Cong and they are equipped with a MP40 submachine gun to suppress the player effectively when approaching at close range, making them the only type of enemy with submachine gun as primary weapon in entire Far Cry 5. They might be more dangerous in close quarter areas like bunkers or houses. Their clothing is black shirts and pants, small pouch, bullet vest, boonie hat and sandals, quite similar with Berserkers.

Trivia

MP40 still being used by Viet Cong in Vietnam War is history accurate, as many were veterans of First Indochina War and experienced with this weapon, the MP40 also fire 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge, which was abundant and common enough for guerillas to afford.
