Vietnam is a country in southeast Asia. It is the main setting of the Far Cry 5 DLC pack, Hours of Darkness.
After France was defeated in First Indochina War, Vietnam was subject to the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1975, between the United States and ARVN against the PAVN (NVA) and Viet Cong of Vietnam, which is the subject of Hours of Darkness. The US soldier Wendell Redler supposedly fought in Vietnam around 1967, the same year Yara had Communist Revolution of 1967 where Legends of 67 led by Santos Espinosa overthrown Gabriel Castillo.
After Vietnam War, the country was caught up in Third Indochina War as a result of Sino-Soviet Split between China and Soviet Union. Soviet Russia and Cuba stood by Vietnam's side, nevertheless.
In contrast to Cuba, it's likely the incompetent Yaran leader Santos Espinosa somehow damaged relations between Yara and Vietnam as well as numerous other fellow communist countries during this period, hence the absolute isolation of Yara without any embassy nor consulate of any country, as American embargoes cannot stop other countries from maintaining formal diplomatic relations. Santos might have caused irreparable damages to the point that other communist countries including Vietnam all withdrawn their embassies and cut relations with Yara.
In 21st century, Vietnam maintain diplomatic relations with every country possible, except countries with rampant civil wars and insurgencies making it impossible to set up embassies, such as Yara, Kyrat and UAC.
